MUNSTER UNDER 16 CUP GROUP 1 Douglas/Carrigaline 0 Killarney 52

KILLARNEY came away with the spoils when they comprehensively beat a young Douglas / Carrigaline outfit last Saturday.

Thomas Clifford opened the scoring for the visitors when he latched onto his own chip kick to touch down early in the game. The second try soon followed from scrum half Peter Walsh before Liam Randles combined with John McCarthy for a third try. Darren Cronin and Brendy O’Donoghue also went over, and with Donnchadh Greally converting three of his kicks the away side led by 31-0 at half-time.

Douglas / Carrigaline tried hard to get back into the game in the second half, but it was Killarney who struck once more when Jack Kennelly struck for his side’s sixth try. Killarney continued their onslaught, and Peter Walsh struck for two more tries to complete his hat trick and claim a memorable victory for his side.

CASTLEISLAND took on Bruff in the first round of the Pan Munster Cup and came up just short in what was a game that threatened to spill over on many occasions.

Castleisland started really well and a try by Jordan O Sullivan Coffey followed by a conversion and penalty by Donal Daly, saw them 10-0 after 10 minutes.

Bruff were stung into action and came back strongly to lead 10-13 at half-time. The visitors added another try and although Castleisland responded with a penalty, Bruff held out to claim the spoils.
