KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION

It has been a very busy few weeks for the Kerry Hospice Foundation. We are so grateful to all the public for the huge continued support and to all who organised events and continue to organise events.

CHRISTMAS EVENTS

We had two families who lit up their houses for Christmas while raising funds in the process. The Purcells in Killorglin and The McCabes in Ballyduff made a huge effort in lighting up their houses and both looked amazing. Well done to all and a fantastic way to get in to the Christmas spirit.

BAG PACKING: We thank all the volunteers who helped with the bag packing on a very busy Sunday before Christmas in Tesco, and it was hugely successful thanks to the public again.

SWIMS: There were many events over the Christmas with the gang on Portmagee kicking it all off with the annual Christmas Day swim which is always a great event. This group continue to raise funds and this is now a very popular event.

WALKS: St Stephen’s Day saw two different walks taking place, The annual Bill Kirby walk kicked off in Tralee and it turned out to be one of the biggest years for this walk.

Daveys walk took place in Blackwater on St Stephen’s Day also and again was hugely supported. A great day was had by all with food provided for all during and after the walk. They had great support with sponsorship and a huge crowd turned up on the day.

SOCCER MATCH: The Windmill United soccer club held a match on St Stephen’s Day in which 30 players took part and the funds they raised on the day they donated to KHF. Thank you for the kind gesture.

CYCLE: The Chain Gang cycling club held a cycle in memory of Nicky Fitzgearld in which 57 people cycled to Castlisland and again raised near €1000. They had great weather for the event and again hugely supported.

QUIZ: There was a great event on the 28th with the Kilflynn Cancer support group held their successful quiz in Herbert’s Bar and Parker’s Bar. This group have raised large amounts of money for Cancer charities down through the years.

TRACTOR RUN: The Anvil group as they do every year held some events over Christmas in the run-up to the James Ashe tractor run which will take place on the 13th of January. They continue to raise money for the Palliative Care and other Cancer charities and have done great work over the years.

RUGBY FUNDRAISER: The Castleisland RFC held their spilt the bucket fundraiser last weekend which was a great success. Thank you for choosing Palliative Care for your event.

NEW YEAR Run: New Year’s Eve was a great day and the optimal Fitness Run was a huge success. Michelle Greaney had over 400 runners taking part in this event. Michelle is going to run another one on the 16th of February.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The Bon Jovee Gig will take place in the Brandon Hotel on the 16th of February. Tickets on sale now.

Coach Convoy: The Annascaul/Inch Branch of Kerry Hospice are organising a big day out on the 9th of March in which a convoy of buses will take in the sights of Slea Head and will be followed by refreshments and entertainment on the Dingle Skellig. For information contact miriampdennehy@gmail.com.
