- By STEPHEN FERNANE

KEVIN Looney is a talented designer who has just put his creative talents to show by designing a stunning singlet for the Kerry Stars Special Olympics Basketball Team.

Kevin has epilepsy and autism so, naturally, designing the kit has given him a huge sense of personal satisfaction; the 23-year-old has a very keen interest in fashion and design.

Designing the new kit for the Kerry Stars has also given everyone involved a huge lift. Kevin even designed the soccer team jerseys in 2018.

“The team are delighted with their kit, and Kevin is a great example of what people with disabilities can achieve,” said Tom Tobin of Kerry Stars Special Olympics Team

“People with autism have a lot of potential and are very creative, intelligent and have amazing hidden talent,” Tom added

Kevin’s love of fashion is very obvious in his design.

He lives independently, and singing is another of his passions. Anyone out there interested in looking for a design can get in touch with Kevin, who would love to help.

Kevin is grateful to the Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club for letting him go ahead and design the kit, while great credit is also due to Kevin’s wonderful mother, Carmel, and his grandfather Dan McCarthy. Kevin is grateful to Katie and the Murphy family for their support in this adventure.

“Kevin is a wonderful young man who has done an amazing job in designing and bringing to fruition this magnificent basketball jersey. We in the club are very proud of his creativity and achievement. We wish him well in his future endeavours. We know that the Kerry Stars Ladies and Men’s teams will wear these jerseys with pride for years to come,” said Tom.
