The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

MILLTOWN CASTLEMAINE

-

SYMPATHY: There was much sadness in our community when news came of the death of George McAulliffe. George was from Brosna but moved to the area in the 60’s. He threw his lot in with Listry GAA Club in the early years and was part of their 1970 East Kerry winning championship team.

George moved to Milltown in the early 70s and played with the club. In the mid 70s, he trained Mid Kerry and brought them to a county final in 1975-where they were narrowly beaten by Austin Stacks, after a replay. In the early 80’s, he trained the Mid Kerry U 21s to county success. He also had another stint with Mid Kerry seniors in the 90s.

At club level, George also had two terms as trainer in the 80s and 90s, training them to county intermediate success in 1994. He had a long career both as a player and as a trainer/coach along with training underage teams. George was truly a man of wit and knowledge and was always on hand to guide and advise the club down through the years.

George was vice president of the club at the time of his death. We extend our sincere sympathy to the McAuliffe family. Codladh sámh leis na haingil.
