Killarney 15 Clonmel 5

KILLARNEY produced a great performance to see off Clonmel at Barraduff last Saturday. The home side got off to a great start when Brendy O’Sullivan crashed over the line just two minutes into the contest following a great lineout take from John McCarthy.

Clonmel didn’t let this set back derail them and shortly afterwards scored a try of their own when they executed a rolling maul to perfection for a well worked execution. Killarney regained the initiative when a Donnchadh Grealy cross kick was superbly chased down by James Kennelly, the ball broke to supporting John McCarthy who controlled it to touch down.

Killarney struck again 10 minutes before half-time. A quick tap penalty was flashed wide, Ozdenis Koyun, James Kennelly, and fullback Liam Randles all attacked with menace down the right wing before Tomas Clifford navigated between the onrushing cover and the sideline to touch down. Killarney lost a player to the sin bin just before the half time whistle.

With the advantage of the extra man Clonmel attacked ferociously at Killarney, but some excellent defence kept the visitors at bay. When back to their full compliment ,the home side attacked once more and Dan Twomey ,Miley Moriarty, Ozdenis Koyun and Tomas Clifford all came close to scoring. Clonmel managed to keep them out, but Killarney finished as healthy 15-5 victors.
