Some handsome tote payouts at Tralee

-

THE tote dividends continue to be quite remarkable at Tralee Track. At last week’s Tuesday SIS meeting, the fastest winner of the night on 28.86 (.10 slow), Tokenfire Abbie, which was a 7/2 shot, paid €25.60 to a €1.00 win unit and €6.60 to a €1.00 place unit, while 5/1 winner over the sprint distance, A two handreel (18.02), paid €28.30 to a €1.00 win unit and €7.10 to a €1.00 place unit.

The 6/1 winner of the first race, Valarian Prince (29.52), paid €16.70 to a €1 win unit and there were to be more remarkable dividends at Sunday’s SIS meeting. Carmac Hollie (5/1), which was second in the second race, paid €54.50 for a place; Boomtown Tony (6/1), winner of the fifth race, paid €26.10 for a win, and Courancove Tom (5/1), which was second in the sixth race, paid €59.50 for a place.

The Sunday evening place dividends were something else altogether and it shows that a very modest bet can yield a very handsome reward. All due, no doubt, to online betting, which is great grist for the mill at the Oakview venue.

In clocking 28.86 (.10 slow) at last Tuesday’s SIS meeting, Tokenfire Abbie did so after a flying start from trap 5. She backed it up with a splendid show of pace throughout and she hit the line two lengths ahead of the vastly-experienced Lassa Excitement.

Tokenfire Abbie was actually the only winner to get inside 29.00secs, but two others did so on estimated running because of the deduction of .10secs and they were Kilcow Amy (29.04) and Bonnan Rory (29.06). Another winner, Keel Star, equalled 29.00secs because of her run of 29.10.

Other winners on the night were: Valarian Prince, 29.52; Sporting Harry, 29.78; Atwohandreel, 18.02 (.05 slow), Anascaul Blackie, 29.15; Lassinagh Spring, 29.46; Millridge Milo, 29.19.

Duagh owner, Pat O’Connell, recorded a marvellous treble with Teevee Buddy (29.70), Teevee Dawn (29.36) and Teevee Allie (29.53) – all from the January ’16 litter by Kinloch Brae out of Teevee Princess. The respective prices were 6/4 (fav), 5/2 and 5/1.

Fastest winner was Boomtown Tony (6/1), on 28.87, while the other winners were Kilcurra Penny (4/1), 29.14; Milestone Gatsby (4/1), 29.18; Hadtobe Rory (9/4 joint fav), 29.14; Anascaul Jimmy (7/2), 29.01. The going was .10 slow.
