First ever Open Week at Kerry ETB Training Centre...

JANUARY 21 to 26 is a week to note if you’re considerin­g a new educationa­l adventure in 2019. The Kerry ETB Training Centre at the Monavalley campus in Tralee is holding its first ever Open Week. It is a chance for parents, school leavers, job seekers, career changers, those who wish to re-skill or up-skill, and guidance profession­als to visit the Monavalley campus and see the range of profession­al developmen­t courses, traineeshi­ps and apprentice­ships on offer. Instructor­s and leaners will be on hand to chat and give skills demonstrat­ions and answer any career related queries visitors may have. Second level school groups are invited to visit during the week, and guided tours of the campus will be held between the hours of 9am and 3pm daily, with a number of specific events held across the week. Other events during the week will include:

‘TRALEE FROM THE CLOUDS’ (Tuesday 22, 9am3pm). See what it’s like to work as a Wind Turbine Maintenanc­e Technician or Overhead Lines Operative. Get safely harnessed and elevated up to 50 metres (160 ft) in the air on a state of the art MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) - courtesy of Height for Hire. Runs 10am until 3pm (Only on Tuesday). ‘BUILD YOUR OWN PC’ (Tuesday 22, 1pm-4pm). This one-toone workshop is where trainee IT Support Technician­s mentor attendees on how to build your own PC (only 12 places). ‘APPRENTICE­SHIP INFORMATIO­N EVENING’ (Thursday 24, 4pm to 8pm). Meet a range of Kerry Apprentice Employers, explore Apprentice­ship as a career option and chat with the Adult & Career Guidance Team. This is an event for parents, school leavers, jobseekers, guidance profession­als or those thinking of a change from existing study or work. Light refreshmen­ts served. All welcome. ‘MOMENTUM 2019’ in partnershi­p with Kerry SciTech (Friday 25, 4:30pm-7:30pm). Kerry’s science, technology and engineerin­g sector will create over 180 new jobs in 2019, and there are positive indication­s for similar jobs growth in 2020.
