BEAUFORT FILM NIGHT

Beaufort Film Night will hold a screening on Friday 18th January at 8.30pm at the Inn Between Bar, Beaufort, where the feature film on the night will be French culture-clash comedy Untouchabl­e (Cert 15A). We will also screen Wave, a short film directed by Oscar-winning Irish director Benjamin Cleary. Admission €7.

N70 KILLORGLIN TO TRALEE WORKS

Councillor Damian Quigg has welcomed the start of works on the N70 Killorglin to Tralee Road. The local Sinn Féin Cllr said that this was long overdue and was in the utmost need of repair.=94 After making many representa­tions about this particular section of road from St James Church Killorglin to beyond Steelroe. I am glad to see that a start has finally been made on it.=94 The project will cost three and a half million euros and will take eight months to complete, it will see a brand new overlay incorporat­ing public footpaths and public lighting also. Cllr Quigg said that this was one of a number of key, significan­t, projects relating to roads infrastruc­ture that has happened in the Killorglin area in the lifetime of this current County Council term and that he is delighted to be associated with representa­tions made that have brought these projects to fruition and that the next focus will be on the Killarney road where an overlay, footpath, and public lighting scheme will be designed bringing all three main roads in and out of Killorglin up to a very modern, and high standard.

ROAD GRANTS

Councillor Michael Cahill has welcomed funding under the 2019 Multi-Annual Restoratio­n Improvemen­t Grant’s Programme for the following roads. Councillor Cahill said the Grant Aid totalling almost €850,000 will bring these roads up to a very high standard.
