Dominick Lynch through to Masters A decider

IN the week where he received two honours at the Kerry Sports Star Awards, Dominick Lynch won his Masters A singles semi-final beating Limerick’s John O’Connor 21-1, 21-3. There was also success for Ballymac’s Daire Keane in the Junior B singles semi-final where he beat Clare’s Glen Murray 21-14, 21-16.

In the Munster 40x20 Over 35B Singles quarter-final Danny Riordan went down to Patrick Buckley of Cork 10-21, 21-2, 10-21. Jack O’Shea bowed out of the Intermedia­te single at the semi-final stage losing to Clare’s Tieran Agnew 21-14, 16-21, 12-21. Dermot Casey lost out in the Emerald Masters B Singles semi-final. He was beaten 21-9, 21-10 by Limerick’s Seamus Dononvan.

In Colleges action Pres Milltown’s Tommy and Sean Quirke’s great run in the All Ireland Senior Double competitio­n ended in the semi-final. The duo lost to the Kells County Meath pair Conor Owens and Adam Crosbie in a cracking contest that came down to the last point – 15-9, 4-15, 14-15.

There will be action this week with Pat Lacey from Asdee in action in the Emerald Masters B singles semi-final, Darragh Lynch and Sean Quirke in the 40x20 Boys U-16 doubles semi-final and Dominick Lynch plays in the 40x20 Masters A singles Irish Nationals in Mayo this Saturday.
