The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

THE GAME IN 60 SECONDS

-

MAIN PLAYER

Aislinn Desmond, Amanda Brosnan, Emma Dineen, Miriam O’Keeffe and Lorraine Scanlon put in good shifts for the Kingdom. Overall, the player that stood out above all others was Kerry’s Ciara O’Brien who was superb in defence and didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon.

KEY MOMENT

Waterford’s goal on the stroke of half time made a big difference. Trailing by five points, the goal brought Waterford back to within two of their rivals and gave them light at the end of the tunnel after a poor first half.

Going in just two points down gave them the belief to hang in there.

TALKING POINT

Kerry’s two disallowed goals. The first one was probably the correct decision but it was difficult to see why the second one was. The Kerry management were certainly of the opinion that it should have stood.

On the other hand there was six minutes of injury time played at the end of the game that gave Kerry the chance to equalise, and that didn’t sit well with the Waterford management.
