The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Super weekend for Kerry GAA Scene
County Board PRO Leona Twiss with all the GAA news
LAST Saturday will live long in the memory of many Kerry Supporters.
It was truly wonderful to have both our clubs crowned All Ireland Club champions in Croke Park. Heartiest congratulations to Kilcummin and Beaufort. Both clubs provided their heroes with amazing and well-deserved homecomings on Sunday! The two wins in Croke Park really set the atmosphere for Austin Stack Park on Saturday night.
A huge thanks to the Austin Stack Park committee for their superb organisation of the event. The grounds were in excellent condition and the crowd were thoroughly entertained before the game by the Liam O’Connor Showband and Eoin Brady.
The senior footballers aren’t playing next weekend. Their next fixture is away to Galway on February 24. The Kerry GAA Supporters’ Club will take coaches to the game in Tuam. All seats must be booked by Thursday February 21, for booking contact Donal O’Leary, John King or Martin Leane.
Club Championship draw
THE dream to play in Croke Park on Club Championship All Ireland Final Day starts all over again as the Club Championship draw will take place on Wednesday night at 8pm in the Pavilion, Austin Stack Park.
Club representatives are welcome to attend and it will also be broadcast live on the Kerry GAA Facebook page. Our thanks to Castleisland Mart for their sponsorship of this fantastic competition over the last number of years.
Now we are delighted to welcome our new sponsor on board and that is Kerry Petroleum so going forward the competition will be called the Kerry Petroleum Club Championship.
Launch of Credit Union League
THE Launch of the Credit Union County Leagues 2019 will be held on Monday, February 18 at Austin Stack Park at 7pm.
Kerry GAA is delighted to be in partnership with Chapter 23 of the Credit Union which comprises of Cara, Clanmaurice, Chorca Dhuibhne, Killarney, Listowel and Rathmore, in Kerrry along with Abbeyfeale and Desmond in West Limerick.
Together we are supporting the development of the prestigious and indeed the competitive County Leagues, involving clubs from all parts of Kerry. This competition plays a major role encouraging the development of players at club level, which in turn can feed into the County structure.
The Credit Union movement is a vibrant community based financial co-operative who supports and serves the financial needs of its members, (many of whom are also GAA members), throughout Kerry and West Limerick.
This partnership and sponsorship of the Credit Union County Leagues is now entering its 17th year. The first round of the Credit Union County League is fixed for Sunday, March 10.
