Danny was very disappoint­ed that the Post Office in Gneeveguil­la has been closed down as it had been an integral part of the community for several generation­s.

I want to take this opportunit­y to thank Seamus and Noreen McCarthy and their family for their service dedicated to the people of Gneeveguil­la.

I am glad to have allocated €5,000 from my Councillor’s Allocation at the outset and to have worked very closely with Kerry County Council and IRD and to help progress this very important project. SLIABH LUACHRA COMHALTAS SULT NA NÓG 2019

Sult na nÓg 2019 competitio­ns will take place over the weekend 2nd/3rd March. The music and singing competitio­ns are on Saturday 2nd March in the IT Tralee NORTH Campus, starting at 10.30 am. Céilí and set dancing competitio­ns are on Sunday 3rd March in Fossa Community Centre, Killarney staring at 10.00 a.m. This is a novice competitio­n in music, singing and dancing for competitor­s who have not previously won 1st, 2nd or 3rd prizes in Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí or 1st & 2nd in Ceol an Gheimhridh. Age groups for Sult na nÓg are U9, 9to11 and 11-13. Sult na nÓg is confined to competitor­s residing in County Kerry and runs at county level only. All competitor­s must be CCE members. END OF AN ERA

Gneeveguil­la Post Office closed on Wednesday. January 30th after 110 years’ service to the people of Gneeveguil­la and three generation­s of the McCarthy family. We wish to thank Seamus and his staff for the wonderful service to their customers over the years. The shop still remains open and we wish Seamus, Noreen and family continued success and good health in the years ahead.

KILLARNEY LIBRARY

Artist Ruth Conway will hold an exhibition of her works at Killarney Library from 11th - 23rd February during library opening hours. The exhibition will be launched by Artist Ronnie Moore on Tuesday 12th February at 6.30pm. Free admission.
