Mike Tim O’Sullivan (jointmanager): “We are hugely disappointed, to be quite honest about it. The last communication we had from the Post Primary Schools Committee was an email on Monday 15th and that was very positive about the likelihood of the games getting played. We have actually been getting our ducks in a row in making sure that everyone has done the GAA online education module and filled out the health questionnaire. We were ready to go back training as soon as it was allowed, so to get this email last Friday all of a sudden, with no contact or consultation with us .... as I say, it was very disappointing. “We have no intention of putting anyone involved in any risk – if there was any question of that, we would be the first ones to call the games off. And we also fully understand that the clubs must get priority, of course, they are the building blocks of the GAA. Some of our players have already played for Kerry at various grades and others will be hoping to go on and do so. Right now they are bitterly disappointed and look, so is everybody else involved. To be honest, we feel that it could be played and we would love to play it.”

COLÁISTENA SCEILGE

Gillian Fitzgerald (team manager): “We are devastated for this group of girls. They are an unbelieveable panel to work with, a real credit to the school, their parents, and themselves. Eight of them are finishing school; they have put six years of effor t into this and now, at the crest of the wave, it is all being taken away from them. We are all hugely disappointed to be denied the oppor tunity to finish it out at this late stage. We have done all that we can, it’s out of our hands now, but we would love for this decision to be re-considered.”

ST BRENDANS

Ed O’Neill (Spor ts Co-ordinator): “In my role as Spor ts Co-ordinator at St. Brendan’s College I know that the coaches are disappointed and frustrated. They will be meeting the players on Monday for a training session and are hoping that this decision will be reversed. I am sure there will also be a reaction from parents and the wider community involved in our school when they become aware of the cancellation.”
