Five top titles for Killarney’s Lake Hotel at postponed hotel awards

-

AS the team at Killarney’s Lake hotel prepared to reopen earlier this month they received a welcome and timely boost with news that it had scooped five prizes at the Irish Hotel Awards.

The awards were due to be presented in March but were postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak and lock-down.

The awards presented to The Lake Hotel included four provincial “Best in Munster” accolades. These were for Fine Dining Hotel of the year; Great Irish Breakfast and Country House Hotel of the year.

Anthony Barber was also awarded Munster’s Restaurant Manager of the year. Mr Barber, also an accomplished wine connoisseur, has led the Lake’s food department for the last seven years.

The Lake also received a Great Place to Stay Quality Award, in recognition of the overall quality of the product and the service provided.

“We are extremely proud of our team. To be recognised for excellence across so many categories is a fantastic achievement. These awards are a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our outstanding team,” said Lake Hotel Sales and Marketing Manager Sheila O’Callaghan.

“With the ceremony postponed, the awards came as a lovely surprise and an uplifting boost just as the team prepared to restart the business,” said Ms O’Callaghan.

The Lake Hotel reopened on July 9. The fourstar, family owned property has been in the Huggard family for over 100 years.
