Keeping Cahersiveen’s best side out...
THE Secretary of Cahersiveen Tidy Towns, Joan O’Donoghue, said while it’s not surprising that the COVID-19 restrictions have altered the activities of Cahersiveen Tidy Towns in recent weeks, they are getting back into the swing of things with Kieran McCarthy and his crew decking the town out with beautiful, locally sourced summer plants.
Cahersiveen Tidy Town’s ‘Tree Care Programme’ in the Town Park is also underway using recycled materials and waste grass cuttings. Joan says ‘a big thank you’ is owed to the Cahersiveen businesses on this score, who have donated cardboard.
In the coming 12 month period, Cahersiveen Tidy Towns hopes to install bottle water fillers in the town, restore the water pump in the holy well, commission a mural for Bridge Street, continue its programme of planting indigenous shrubs in its green spaces, work with KDYS in creating artful planters in its Holy Well using recycled materials, and to start planting its ‘Edible Medicinal Trail’ through the town.
“We are grateful for all the support KCC and the Cahersiveen Business Alliance have given us with our long term plans. The continuing support of the local community both with volunteering their time and generosity during our winter fundraising events, is greatly appreciated. And that 80s Disco will happen!!” said Joan.
“We started our (social distanced) beach cleans again last weekend, so please keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming dates. And look out for our website which we will be launching this August,” Joan added.
