Fossa 6-14 Ballyduff 2-10

THIS result sends out clear warning bells! Ballyduff are a very good side; any team putting six goals past them is going to attract attention. Poacher in chief, of course, should need very little introduction by now, David Clifford raised two green flags and was a defenders’ nightmare throughout.

He wasn’t the only one though, the O’Shea brothers Tadhg (two goals

Fossa hit two early goals but Jack O’Sullivan goaled for Ballyduff and Kevin Goulding helped to make it 2-1 to 1-3. Late in the first half, it was just a two point game, but Fossa again broke through for two goals and led by 4-8 to 1-6 at half-time, phenomenal scoring. Ballyduff had an extra man early in the second half after a black card and Michael Slattery’s goal and a Mikey Boyle long range point cut the gap, 4-10 to 2-7, but a relentless Fossa struck for another goal and made it six late on. Ballyduff’s score of 2-10 would win a lot of football matches, but certainly not this one. Fossa are a team to keep an eye on.

Gneeveguilla 1-9 St Pats 1-9

FERGAL O’Brien and Kieran Hurley opened the scoring, Hurley also forcing a good save. Brian Murphy added another and David O’Callaghan’s goalgaveSt.Patsa1-3to0-0 lead.

Gneeveguilla had a penalty well saved by Paudie Bailey but that seemed to ignite them, Padraig Doyle, Pa Warren, John O’Leary (f) and Padraig O’Connor (f) all splitting the posts. St. Pats pointed a free but John O’Leary (f) and Ronan Collins had cut the gap to a much more manageable one point by half-time. St. Pats 1-4 Gneeveguilla 0-6.

David O’Callaghan pointed on the resumption. Padraig O’Connor nailed two frees but St. Pats had their noses in front in an enthralling battle until Con Buckley struck for a crucial Gneeveguilla goal. Padraig Doyle fisted over to put them a point ahead and it looked like they would snatch it at the finish, but Kieran Dwyer scored a fantastic point from long range. A draw was a fair result; neither team deserved to lose this excviting contest.
