The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

GROUP 2

-

Brosna 0-12 St. Michaels/Foilmore 0-8

CROMANE’S facilities were absolutely immaculate, but a massive wind was always going to have a huge impact on this one. St. Michaels/ Foilmore, with that breeze behind them, totally dominated the first half.

The likes of Ronan Clifford, Andy O’Connell in midfield, the Goggin brothers, and Barry O’Connell on the ‘40 all impressed. However, the South Kerry side’s shooting didn’t match their football. They had notched six points by half-time, Barry O’Connell and Mike O’Shea among the scorers, but had left a lot more than that behind them. It would ultimately prove costly. Conor

Lane and Tom McGoldrick were on target for Brosna, and a 0-6 to 0-3 half-time deficit looked manageable.

Paul Walsh opened the second half with a free and Tom McGoldrick added another – both of those sharpshooters have won All Irelands while wearing Kerry jerseys, and you’d know it.

That set a pattern that was maintained throughout the half, with Brosna picking off score after score and the defence holding St. Michaels/Foilmoreatbay. Another free each saw Brosna take the lead. Paul Walsh cut loose with three points on the trot, one of them an absolute beauty from play. St. Michaels/ Foilmore moved Mark Griffin, as alwaysadefensive colossus, to mark the dangerous will o’ the wisp, but the damage was already done by then.
