The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Quarter-final place up for grabs in key Premier Junior games
GNEEVEGUILLA V FOSSA
Saturday, 7pm
The Cliffords-inspired Fossa outfit didn’t have it all their own way against St Pat’s, but they came through the test to safely advance to the last eight. Gneeveguilla edged out Ballyduff, and with the greater incentive here, and on home soil, they can nick it. VERDICT: Gneeveguilla
ST PAT’S V BALLYDUFF
Saturday, 7pm
The Blennerville men have been one of the unluckiest sides in the competition. They drew with Gneeveguilla and only lost by three points against Fossa. Ballyduff gave Gneeveguilla a serious fright last weekend, but hurling might be on their minds now. VERDICT: St Pat’s
BROSNA V BALLYMAC
Sunday, 2.30pm
The meeting of two confident, in-form sides would normally be one to relish, but with both safely through to the quarter-finals, this could turn out to be a bit of a damp squib. Brosna had a noteworthy margin of victory in Churchill last time out, and they can edge this. VERDICT: Brosna
ST MICHAEL’S/FOILMORE V CHURCHILL
Sunday, 2.30pm
There is little to play for here, only pride and the fear of the relegation trapdoor, with both protagonists pointless and already out of contention. The South Kerry men have struggled badly in recent years, and Churchill might have that little extra. VERDICT: Churchill
KEEL V FIRIES
Sunday, 2.30pm
Keel gave high-flying Listry socks of it last weekend, and must have been devastated to end up being pipped by the minimum of margins. Firies, on the other hand, look completely out of sorts right now. The Mid Kerry men will want to finish well in front of their own fans. VERDICT: Keel
FINUGE V LISTRY
Sunday, 2.30pm
Another battle between two already-qualified sides and, with the shackles off, you could see an open, entertaining encounter. If Finuge decide to rest some of their dual players in advance of the hurling championship start, Listry must be fancied to keep their unbeaten record. VERDICT: Listry
LISTOWEL EMMETS V BALLYDONOGHUE
Sunday, 2.30pm
A youthful Emmets side have been unfortunate thus far, drawing with St Senans and narrowly losing to Skellig Rangers. Ballydonoghue picked up an important win last weekend, and this could be a cracker. It’s difficult to predict the outcome. VERDICT: Draw
ST SENANS V SKELLIG RANGERS
Sunday, 2.30pm
St Senans have been badly hindered by the absence of Barry Mahony through injury. Yet they still have a chance of reaching the last eight, provided that they manage a win in Mountcoal. Skellig Rangers are already safely through, which might help the home team. VERDICT: St Senans
