County SHC gets underway with Friday meeting of Ballyheigue and Ballyduff in Austin Stack Park
FIXTURES have been made for the opening Round of the 2020 Garvey’s SuperValu Kerry County Senior Hurling Championship [Corn Neilus Ó Floinn]. The competition will be played on a straight knock out system with games to have extra-time if necessary and a winner on the day format.
The opening game will be played on Friday, 14 August when Ballyheigue oppose Ballyduff at 6.30pm.
On Saturday, August 15 at 6pm St. Brendan’s play Kilmoyley.
There will be two games on Sunday, 16 August. At 1.30pm Lixnaw meet Abbeydorney while later that evening, at 6pm, holders, Causeway, make the first defence of their title against Crotta O’Neill’s.
All games will be played at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.
COUNTY INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Three Preliminary Round games went ahead in the County Intermediate Hurling Championship [Corn Antóin Ó Murchú] last Sunday. Lixnaw defeated Causeway by 1-15 to 0-15. At Lewis Road, Dr. Crokes opened their campaign with a 3-17 to 1-9 win over Abbeydorney while Kilmoyley overcame Lady’s Walk by 3-10 to 1-6.
The quarter-final fixtures are: Sunday, August 16 at 2.30pm - Kenmare v Kilgarvan; Monday, August 17 at 6pm - Dr. Crokes v Crotta O’Neill’s; Lixnaw v Kilmoyley and Tralee Parnells v St. Brendan’s.
First named team at home with extra-time if necessary and winner on the day.
NORTH KERRY SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Wins for Lixnaw, Crotta and Kilmoyley in Round 2 of the Rhyno Quality Feeds North Kerry Senior Hurling Championship on Bank Holiday Monday.
Lixnaw had an impressive 1-19 to 0-15 home over Ballyduff; Crotta travelled to Ballyheigue and had a 2-19 to 1-15 win over the home side while Kilmoyley had a comfortable 2-22 to 1-14 away win over Abbeydorney.
The Causeway v St. Brendan’s game was to be played last evening (Tuesday) at Ardfert. Round 3 is fixed for Monday, 24 August.
