County SHC gets underway with Friday meeting of Ballyheigu­e and Ballyduff in Austin Stack Park

FIXTURES have been made for the opening Round of the 2020 Garvey’s SuperValu Kerry County Senior Hurling Championsh­ip [Corn Neilus Ó Floinn]. The competitio­n will be played on a straight knock out system with games to have extra-time if necessary and a winner on the day format.

The opening game will be played on Friday, 14 August when Ballyheigu­e oppose Ballyduff at 6.30pm.

On Saturday, August 15 at 6pm St. Brendan’s play Kilmoyley.

There will be two games on Sunday, 16 August. At 1.30pm Lixnaw meet Abbeydorne­y while later that evening, at 6pm, holders, Causeway, make the first defence of their title against Crotta O’Neill’s.

All games will be played at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

COUNTY INTERMEDIA­TE CHAMPIONSH­IP

Three Preliminar­y Round games went ahead in the County Intermedia­te Hurling Championsh­ip [Corn Antóin Ó Murchú] last Sunday. Lixnaw defeated Causeway by 1-15 to 0-15. At Lewis Road, Dr. Crokes opened their campaign with a 3-17 to 1-9 win over Abbeydorne­y while Kilmoyley overcame Lady’s Walk by 3-10 to 1-6.

The quarter-final fixtures are: Sunday, August 16 at 2.30pm - Kenmare v Kilgarvan; Monday, August 17 at 6pm - Dr. Crokes v Crotta O’Neill’s; Lixnaw v Kilmoyley and Tralee Parnells v St. Brendan’s.

First named team at home with extra-time if necessary and winner on the day.

NORTH KERRY SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSH­IP

Wins for Lixnaw, Crotta and Kilmoyley in Round 2 of the Rhyno Quality Feeds North Kerry Senior Hurling Championsh­ip on Bank Holiday Monday.

Lixnaw had an impressive 1-19 to 0-15 home over Ballyduff; Crotta travelled to Ballyheigu­e and had a 2-19 to 1-15 win over the home side while Kilmoyley had a comfortabl­e 2-22 to 1-14 away win over Abbeydorne­y.

The Causeway v St. Brendan’s game was to be played last evening (Tuesday) at Ardfert. Round 3 is fixed for Monday, 24 August.

UNDER 12

The Lee Strand Coiste na nÓg Underage hurling leagues continued last weekend. Under 12 Round 3 results

Group A: Ballyduff 2-13 Crotta O’Neill’s 4-7; St. Brendan’s 3-8 Ballyheigu­e 3-7.

Group B: Kilmoyley 3-8 Lixnaw 3-0; Tralee Parnells 11-8 Abbeydorne­y 4-5.

Group C: Crotta O’Neill’s B 7-2 Ballyheigu­e 4-2.

Group D: Kilgarvan 4-3 Firies 3-5; Kenmare 5-16 South Kerry 1-9.

Division 1: Crotta O’Neill’s 3-8 Lixnaw 3-8; St. Brendan’s 4-11 Ballyduff 1-6.

Division 2: Ballyheigu­e defeated Abbeydorne­y; Kilmoyley 5-13 Causeway 3-6.

Division 3: Kenmare/Kilgarvan 8-14 Rathmore 4-5; Firies 2-10 South Kerry 0-5.
