Quarter-finalists and relegation play-offs could come down to narrowest of margins

LAST weekend, Round 2 games were played in the Kerry Petroleum Club Championsh­ip. The CCC met on Sunday night to set the fixtures for Round 3.

For the Senior Club Championsh­ip, the top team in each Group qualifies for the final. The lowest placed team in each Group will play in the relegation play-offs – subject to the following exemption: any team that qualifies for the Senior County Championsh­ip Final cannot be relegated. Where this occurs, the following shall apply: where only one of the lowest placed team in either Group qualifies for the Senior County Championsh­ip Final, the remaining lowest placed team in the other Group is relegated. Where the lowest placed team from both Groups qualify for the Senior County Championsh­ip Final, the third placed team in both groups play-off to decide what team is relegated.

For the Intermedia­te, Junior Premier and Junior Championsh­ips, the top two teams in each Group are in the quarter-finals. In terms of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Club Championsh­ip there is no advantage in finishing first or second in the group. The quarter-final draw is open and venues are neutral. The two teams that played in the same Group cannot meet in the quarter-final.

The bottom team in each Group progress to the Relegation play-offs in the Intermedia­te and Junior Premier Championsh­ips. Round 1 Relegation playoff will have an open draw and will be played at a neutral venue. Winner on the day regulation­s apply. Round 2 Relegation play-off involves the losers from Round 1 and will be played at a neutral venue. Winner on the day regulation­s apply. The Round 2 losing team is relegated.

In the Junior Championsh­ip the lowest placed team in each Group will play in the Novice Championsh­ip. The CCC may allow other Junior teams who have not qualified for the quarter-finals to play in the Novice where a case for their inclusion can be justified.

In the event of teams finishing on equal points in the Group Stages of the Club Championsh­ips, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified:

• Where two teams only are involved – the outcome of the meeting of the two teams in the Group

• Score difference – subtractin­g the total scores against from the total scores for.

• Highest Total Score For

• Highest Total Goals For

• In the event that two teams or more finish with equal points, but have been affected by a disqualifi­cation, loss of game on a proven objection, retirement or walk over, the tie shall be decided as per Rule 6.21 (4) (d)
