Kerry hotels to theforein2020 travel awards
FOUR Kerry Hotels have made the top ten in travel website Tripadvisor’s definitive listing of Ireland’s best hotels.
Kerry venues dominated the upper end of the Tripadvisor 2020 Travellers Choice Awards which ranked over 950 hotels and B&Bs across the island.
Harvey’s Point in Donegal took the top spot with the Killarney Park Hotel coming in second place.
Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa in Tralee took fourth spot with The Lake and Brehon hotels in Killarney in fifth and ninth place respectively. Other hotels on the top ten list include Ashford Castle, Dromoland and Adare Manor.
The Killarney Park Hotel scopped another gong and was also named as Ireland’s top luxury hotel.
Of note is the fact that every hotel featured in the top ten was located along the Wild Atlantic Way with no Dublin hotels making the grade.
Away from the Top Ten Dingle also fared well with Heaton’s Guesthouse named Ireland’s best small hotel while Castlewood House won the Tripadvisor award for Best Service in Ireland.
The 2020 Travellers’ Choice Awards were decided based on “the quality and quantity of the millions of reviews, opinions and ratings collected on Tripadvisor in 2019, prior to the pandemic,” the online travel giant said.
“It has been an incredibly tough year for the hospitality industry, but with doors again open to hotels and restaurants across Ireland, now is the right time to celebrate those businesses that have delivered consistently outstanding service and quality over the last year,” said Tripadvisor spokesperson James Kay.
“These awards should give consumers confidence to venture out and support the industry’s vital recovery,” Mr Kay added.
In addition to hotels the awards also recognise the best dining options available across the country with two Kerry restaurants featuring the in the Top Ten. Rossers Restauraunt in Aghadoe was fifth with Mulcahy’s in Kenmare in sixth.
