Valentia Music Festival heading online this month
ORGANISERS of the 2020 Chamber Music on Valentia Festival say that they are very happy to be able to hold this year’s festival, even if it will have to take place online.
Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, the festival has had to adapt and improvise with this year’s edition.
In a statement on what people can expect from the the 2020 outing, which is set to take place from tomorrow, Thursday August 13 to Sunday, August 16.
“We are delighted to present the seventh edition of this annual Festival which this year due to Covid-19 reshaped as an online Festival with specially created content, gathering renowned Irish musicians performing internationally, celebrating important anniversaries and presenting exciting new work,” it said.
“Programmed by Artistic Director, concert pianist Mary Dullea, the 2020 Festival continues its mission to deliver performances, installations, outreach and engagement events, and celebrate Irish composers for national and international audiences,” it continued.
“Throughout this year’s Festival we are presenting a wonderful range of performances. The opening concert (August 14) sees Fidelio Trio (Darragh Morgan, Tim Gill, Mary Dullea) joined by violinist Philippa Moin a programme of music by Ernest J. Moeran, the patron composer of the Festival and Deirdre McKay, this year’s featured composer.
