TEA DANCE

A Tea Dance will be held in the Glencar Community Centre on Sunday the 12th of May from 3-6pm. Entry Fee €10 with music and dancing to Noreen Ashe plus spot prizes and light refreshments. KELLS VIADUCT ROADWORKS

Following representations made by Fianna Fáil Councillor, Michael Cahill, Kerry County Council has confirmed that they are ‘currently trying to secure the necessary funding to carry out resurfacing works between the Viaduct and Caitín Baiters’ on the N70 Ring of Kerry road, now that the emergency repairs have been completed there.

“The N70 Ring of Kerry has reopened at the Gleensk Viaduct following a major repair job there, costing in excess of one million euros to fix a significant subsidence problem. The state of the road from the Viaduct to Caitín Baiter’s Pub has deteriorated badly and I have called for this section to be reinstated to a proper modern road surface. It’s a black top surface that is warranted here” stated Councillor Cahill.

“The Ring of Kerry is Ireland’s Premier Tourist Route and as I have previously stated on numerous occasions, up to 70% of it is substandard. Visitors come to Kerry from all over the world to travel the Ring of Kerry and they are greeted by a National Secondary Road that is in a shocking condition. Transport Infrastructure Ireland needs to dramatically increase funding for this renowned route” said the Rossbeigh based

Councillor.

“KCC tell me this section from the Viaduct to Caitín Baiter’s will need to be suitably strengthened as well and I will keep pressing for a proper road surface now rather than later” added Councillor Cahill.
