SENIOR MEN

A tough battle ensued in Milltown in Round five of the County League. The County Intermediate Champions are formidable at home where you will earn every score. David O’Sullivan and Ryan O’Grady were looking sharp in the first half and alongside Will Shine they contributed the points which saw the sides level at half time, 0-5 a piece. A rearguard action ensured the two points headed back to Killarney.

Rathmore are the visitors to Direen in Round 6, the game throwing in at 7.30 this Friday night, May 3rd.

The Senior B team had a fine win over Ballylongford in Direen on Friday evening. It helped them bounce back from that disappointing defeat to Fossa. A solid team effort but young Daire Murphy’s input certainly stood out.

SENIOR LADIES

The senior ladies were in Donal Curtin Cup action on Sunday morning at home to ISG. The old sayings of goals win games and a game of 2 halves certainly to this game. Starting the game brightly and looking in charge with a commanding half time lead of 1-12 to 1-03, all looked in hand. But ISG started the second half on a better footing to score a brace of goals to keep in touch. Legion couldn’t capitalise on some good opportunities and it was to prove costly. Final score Killarney Legion 1-19 ISG 5-09.

U12 GIRLS

Spa were the visitors to Direen on Tuesday evening where the two clubs both fielded two teams to put on a great hour of entertainment. With no games this week coming it’s a chance to return to the training ground to tidy up some of the skills.

U14 GIRLS

The U14 Girls had their first competitive outing in Beaufort during the week. It took a last minute goal to secure the points. They followed that win up with a trip to North Kerry, Moyvane providing the opposition. A great team performance against a determined opponent saw them return south with the win.

U16 GIRLS

A game of two halves in Direen on Monday evening, dictated by a stiffish breeze. The first half belonged to the home side, a goal towards the end of the period making it 1-5 to 0-3 at the short whistle. But Glenflesk came out a different team in the second half, running out 1-12 to 1-7 winners.

They soon bounced back from that reverse with a fine away win over Cordal/ Scart. In a competitive game they were triumphant on a 2-13 to 2-4 scoreline. The White team were also in action in Currow and it was a case of goals winning games for the home side in what was a high scoring tussle.

U11 BOYS

Lewis Road was the hotbed of action for the U11 Boys when they visited our neighbours Dr Crokes on an unseasonably wet Thursday evening. But that didn’t deter either side from putting in a determined effort to provide an hour of great entertainment. Kenmare will be their last games in this phase of competition.

U13 BOYS

You always earn your corn in Rathmore and the U13 Boys most certainly did when they had a very impressive win over the natives on Thursday evening. Played in wet challenging conditions they hit a fine total of 3-11 to outgun the home sides 1-7.

U15 BOYS

The U15 boys made it three from three in Division 1 of the County league when they accounted for a very strong An Ghaeltacht side in Direen last Wednesday evening. In an amazing first half, ten goals were shared equally to see the lads 5-6 to 5-1 ahead. Point scoring was the centrepiece of the second half, with the home side minding the gap to run out 5-14 to 5-11 victors.

KERRY MINORS

Congratulations to Oisin Fleming on his selection to the Kerry minor panel for the season ahead.

U17 BOYS

The second team got their East Kerry Division 3 campaign off on a winning note last Monday evening in Direen. Gneeveguilla were the visitors but it was the goal scoring prowess of the team in green and white that carried the day. Final score Killarney Legion 6-9 Gneeveguilla 2-10.

PRIMARY SCHOOL GAMES

Patrick McSweeney and Esme O’Sullivan will line out in the Primary School games at the upcoming Munster Senior Football Final between Kerry and Clare in Ennis this Sunday May 5th.

No doubt huge excitement in the respective houses ahead of the big day.
