JOTTY HOLLY MEMORIAL MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP Sponsored by O’Connor’s Hardware & Farm Supplies DuaghDivision 2 FinalBallydonoghue 6-13 Ballylongford/Asdee 1-6 As the scoreline suggests this was a rather one sided affair with Ballydonoghue pretty much on top from the outset, while Bally/Asdee had some good individual performers they never really clicked on the day.Ballydonoghue opened the scoring with a point from Emmet Kelly to set them on their way and two minutes later Man of the Match Jack Kennelly got in for the first of his three goals opening up an early lead. Liam Mulvihill operating at full forward got Bally/ Asdee off the mark with a pointed free in the 9th minute and if he got a better supply he may have caused them problems. Ballydonoghue continued to push forward at every opportunity and led by 17 points at half time, Ballydonoghue 4-9 Ballylongford/Asdee 0-4.
The second half continued in a similar fashion with Ballydonoghue extending their lead through a Jack Kennelly goal in the second minute.Pa Carmody interrupted the procession for Bally/Asdee when he drove a quickly taken free to the net.Bally/Asdee kept battling to the final whistle but it was Ballydonoghue who ran out deserving winners.North Kerry Board Chairman Johnny Stack presented the trophy to Captain and Man of the Match Jack Kennelly. Club will honour its team of 25years ago the 1993 North Kerry Senior Football Champions at a function in the Carmody Community Centre on Saturday night next December 8th at 8.30pm.
NORTH KERRY SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP: All Roads will lead to Moyvane on Sunday next for the Final of the Bernard O’Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship which is sponsored by McMunn’s Bar & Restaurant in Ballybunion. This year’s final sees reigning champions Ballydonoghue take on St Senans in the Final at Con Brosnan Park with a 2.30pm Throw In. Our near neighbours Ballydonoghue are chasing a Three in a Row victory on Sunday something that has not been done since 1979 when the great Beale team captured their third title in a row. Sunday’s game is a repeat of the two teams that contested the 2016 Final in which Ballydonoghue won their 8th title after a lapse of 23years, so Sunday is a big day for both Clubs as Ballydonoghue chase 3 in a row and possibly their 10th Title while St Senan’s are in search of their 1st Title. So the Eamon O’ Donoghue Cup will be either making its way to Mountcoal or Lisselton on Sunday evening next or who knows it might be a case of come back and we will do it all over again on Sunday week to decide??. However Best wishes to all concerned. It is a great day as well for our own club as the Ballylongford Senior Team who this tear are the Jubilee Team of 1993which are being honoured at half time in the senior game. It is hard to believe that it was 25years ago since Ballylongford lifted the Cup, this was the second last time that Bally won the Championship. The last being 2000 in which they defeated St Senans in Tarbert. So a great day lies in store in Moyvane on Sunday next.
