THE winning league run continued for Scotts Lakers at the Fr Mathews Arena in Cork last Tuesday week when they recorded a comprehensive 32-point victory over Fr Mathews.
Despite lining out again without Papito Hersisia, the Killarney side turned in their most impressive performance of the season to extend their winning league record to eleven wins and just two losses.
Scotts Lakers were always in control in this match leading 24-12 after eight minutes while a buzzer beating three-pointer from team captain Mark Greene gave them a 26-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. They extended their advantage to 15 points midway through the second quarter and they dominated for the remainder of the half to lead 60-34 at the interval break.
The game seemed to be well out of Fr Mathews reach at this stage as Lakers led 76-47 midway through the third quarter. It was a commanding 89-57 lead at the end of the third period.
The home side struggled to make any impact and Scotts Lakers ran out easy winners in the end. With six players on double scoring figures and converting a whopping 17 three-pointers, this was a match that Scotts Lakers were never going to lose.
