Tralee War­riors face Killester with Cup fi­nal place at stake

ON the back of their derby win over Kil­lor­glin in the Su­per­league last Satur­day, Gar­veys Tralee War­riors are back in ac­tion this week­end with a Na­tional Cup semi-fi­nal against Killester, with a first Na­tional Cup fi­nal ap­pear­ance at stake for the Tralee club.

Hav­ing knocked de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Tem­pleogue out of the Cup in the first round, and then ac­count­ing for UCC Demons in the last round, War­riors head to the Mardyke Arena in Cork to take on Killester on Satur­day even­ing (8pm) in the se­cond of the two semi-fi­nals. UCD Mar­ian take opn Belfast Star in the other game.

Mean­while there is an all-Kerry schools bas­ket­ball semi-fi­nal sched­uled for to­mor­row (Thurs­day) af­ter­noon at 12.45 when Mercy Moun­thawk and Tralee CBS meet in the All-Ire­land semi-fi­nal of the U-19 ‘A’ Boys Cup in Tralee Sports Com­plex.

This com­pe­ti­tion is the blue rib­bon event of post-pri­mary schools bas­ket­ball, with the fi­nals tak­ing place in the Na­tional Arena in Tal­laght. Kerry schools have a good record in these Cup com­pe­ti­tions are are guar­an­teed at least one school in a fi­nal.
