Dedicated wife of former editor dies

SHEILA FINN PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 64

THE FORMER Editor of The Sligo Champion, Seamus Finn, has been bereaved by the death of his wife, Sheila.

Mrs. Finn (nee O’Donnell) passed away peacefully at her home, Ballinode House, Ballinode, on Monday morning. She was aged 64. Her remains will repose at her home today, Tuesday, from 3.00pm to 10.00pm.

Funeral will arrive at St. Joseph’s Church, Ballytivna­n, tomorrow for Mass Of The Resurrecti­on at 11.00am.

Interment will take place in Sligo Cemetery.

Mr Finn held the position of Editor at The Sligo Champion for 37 years.

He was granted the Freedom of the Borough by Sligo Borough Council following his retirement.

His late wife ran a bed and breakfast business for many years at Ballinode.

She previously worked in the former Johnston’s shop, O’Connell Street.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Seamus and Kevin and extended family.

Meanwhile, the death has occurred of former Sligo Champion employee, Ethna Morrison (nee Bruen) of Baylon, The Line, Rosses Point.

Her Requiem Mass takes place today at 12 noon at St. Columba’s Church, Rosses Point, with burial afterwards in Rosses Point cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Paschal; daughters, Fidelma and Patricia; son, Frank; and extended family.
