ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Anti social behaviour has been high on the agenda in Tubbercurry discussions in recent times.

Members of Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce & Community Association held two meetings recently with the Chief Superintendent of the Gardai Michael Clancy and Superintendent Colm Nevin, to discuss the rising rates of crime and anti social behaviour in housing estates around Tubbercurry.

Some members of residents associations also attended the meetings and the authorities were told quite forcefully that the heavy hand of the law needs to be applied. Repeat offenders are a constant worry to people living on their own. Parents of young children are also concerned about the safety of their children.

The strong message going to the Garda Authorities was that more Gardai personnel are required to be stationed in Tubbercurry, more foot patrols and community policing is needed and the law abiding people of Tubbercurry are going to cry halt to the wave of crime inflicted by a small number of thugs.

In the coming weeks a number of community meetings will be held to which all members of the public are invited. Look out for details locally.
