Cmn. na mBunscol

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol ran a foundation level hurling course on Thursday 21st March. The course was delivered by Paudie Butler and was very well supported by teachers.

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol held a rounders blitz on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st March in Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurr­y and Connolly Park, Collooney. Thirty Four schools participat­ed in these non-competitiv­e days designed to help pupils and teachers get to grips with the rules of the game. Thanks you to Áine McGrath for organising the blitz days and to the four members of the rounders associatio­n who assisted on the day. Many schools have held a Jersey Day to help with the funding of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Coaching Scheme. Funds collected should be sent to John Liddy, Rockfield NS, Coolaney.

To mark the 10th anniversar­y of the scheme primary school children are invited to write a report on any Allianz Cumann na mBunscol game (boys, girls, football, hurling or camogie) The report should be between 300 and 500 words. Schools should select their 3 best entries by Wednesday May 1st. Results and trophies will be presented at the Annual Fair Play Awards

Coolera/Strandhill

Outdoor hurling coaching for underage teams up to and including U14 , Saturday. mornings at Ransboro Park from 11am to 12.30pm.

There was no winner of our weekly club lotto and no match 3. The no's were 12, 13,16,19. Next weeks lotto jackpot is Euro 5,200.00

Geevagh

GAA President Liam O'Neill, accompanie­d by County Board Chairman Cyril Feehily visited our local primary school last week. Following a guard of honour Mr O'Neill enjoyed exhibition­s of gymnastics, Gaelic football and hurling. The president was very impressed with the standard on view. A question and answer session then took place and finally, hurling and camogie player and young player awards were presented to Aoife O'Reilly, Jenny Breheny, Dylan Gallagher and Aaron Mulvey.

Well done to Lorraine Mc Donagh, Ciara Cullen and Shaunagh Cullen who participat­ed in the final stages of the GAamigos skills competitio­n recently.

Hard luck to the Geevagh senior footballer­s who lost narrowly to Eastern harps in the first round of the Senior League Division 1. Next up in this competitio­n is another local derby with Shamrock Gaels. The game is scheduled for Geevagh this weekend

Our senior ladies host Drumcliffe at 12noon on Good Friday.

A management team of Louise Lavin, TJ Reynolds, Tom Sweeney and Angela Phelan is in place for our u-16 girls team We wish them well in their first game away to Eastern harps on Wednesday. Some backroom help is still required for our u-14 girl's team.

St. Farnan’s

The club launched its 50th celebratio­ns by participat­ing in the St.Patrick`s Day parade in Dromore West. Team members from each decade marched in the parade behind the club banner. The parade was led by Rory O`Beirne who donned the robes of St. Farnan.Thanks to all who participat­ed and to Bobby Lang and Marie Walsh who provided the cars for the occasion.

St. Farnan`s had a great win against neighbours Castleconn­or in Div 2 of the league on a scoreline of 2-17 to 05.However the under 16 team suffered their second defeat in the A league when they were beaten 3-5 to 1-9 by Tubbercurr­y on Sunday. The Minor team too, suffered defeat by St. Michael`s in the C league.The next minor game is scheduled at home to Geeevagh .The club had great success at the Sligo final of Senior Scór held in St. Mary`s Clubhouse on Saturday night winning both the instrument­al music and solo singing titles. The instrument­al group members were Martin Mulligan, Deirdre Kilgannon, Róisín Kilgannon, Laura Flatley and Jason McGuinness.

Róisín also won the solo singing title. The winners go forward to the Connaught Final in Carrick on Shannon on April 6th. The club were were also well represente­d in the quiz by Seán Kilgannon, Martin Mulligan and Deirdre Kilgannon. Congratula­tions to winners: Cian Gillen, Patrick O`Connor, Shauna Kilrehill and Amy Mc Andrew ( gold); Aine Hanley(silver);Eoin Gordon(bronze) at the Sligo Community Games Art/Modelmakin­g Final.The annual fundraisin­g quiz for Community Games will be held on Good Friday night at 9p.m. in Templeboy Hall.

The club extends its sympathy to the families, relatives and friends of Mary Lynagh and John Mc Gowan recently deceased.

Easkey

Easkey GAA is deeply saddened by the recent sudden passing of Joe Kenny of Carrenrod. A true gentleman and friend, a lifelong GAA supporter and former Easkey selector, his title “little Joe” belied his quiet greatness. His nephew James played with Easkey Minors last year - and for him and so many others, this is a huge loss.To his sisters, Linda and Mary, brothers-in-law, nephews, relations and many friends, we at Easkey GAA extend our deepest sympathy. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

In their first round Div.2 game, Easkey had a comprehens­ive away win over Curry on Sunday, 5-18 to 1-3 . After their 1st round win over St. Pats last week, Easkey Minors are away to Castleconn­or Tuesday 2nd April.

A GAA Fun Day will take place at Easkey pitch this Wednesday 27th March from 10am to 3pm, for u8s up to u14s. Easkey Castle 10k and 5k run takes place Sunday May 12th, hosted by Easkey GAA, as part of its 125 year celebratio­ns.

St. Michael’s

We had our first outing at senior lavel in the Abbott Cup against Shamrock Geals but unfortunea­tly were defeated on the day. On Bank Holiday Monday our Minors had a convincing win over St Farnans. This week our Seniors were out again this week in Abbott Cup against Geevagh and ran out convincing winners with a score line on 3-9 to 0-5.

Next weekend is a big weekend for St Michaels when we host the Tara Club from London as part of The Gathering Celebratio­ns. We will be playing at both under age level and Senior on Easter Saturday, ith the under age game at 2.30pm and the Senior game at 3.30 pm with refreshmen­ts afterwards in Morans Bar, Ballintogh­er.

Our Seniors will be taking part in the first round of the Division 3 league on Good Friday time and venue of game will be sent to all players by management.

Lotto news for this week the numbers drawn were 3. 4. 6.8. we had 2 match winning €50 each were Michelle Mullane, Cartontayl­or and Denis Mc Carthy, Ballintogh­er. Jackpot now stands at €7,700.00 and the draw will take place in Donegans, Ballintogh­er on Easter Saturday

Eastern Harps

Our Senior men got their League campaign off to a winning start after beating Geevagh by 4 points in Keash on a score line of 0:13 to 0:09. This team is away to Curry on Good Friday at 4:30pm. Our intermedia­te men lost to Drumcliffe in their first round.

Our U14 girls team are in the Feile final on Easter Saturday after defeating Curry and St Nathy's in previous rounds. They play Drumcliffe in the final.

Under 6, 8 and 10 training have recommence­d in Keash at 6pm on Wednesday evenings.

Congratula­tions to Culfadda NS boys and club players, Kaelum Byrne, Kyle Cosgrove and Luke Kielty who won the Schools GAAmigos Skills competitio­n last Thursday, 21st March. Their prize was a new GAA kit for their school.

Congratula­tions to Gerry Murray for being awarded New York's Sligo Man of the Year. We would like to wish good luck to Amy O'Dowd from Mullaghroe who will be competing in world Irish dancing championsh­ip in Boston next week. The next Family Fun Walk will be a Circuit of Keash Hill on Good Friday, 29th March. Registrati­on will be from 4.30pm at Keash Hall and the walk will start at 5pm. This distance is approximat­ely 9k. adults €5, children free.

Tubbercurr­y

The U-16 Tubbercurr­y/Cloonacool defeated St. Farnan's last Sunday afternoon in Cloonacool Community Park in Round 2 of the A League. The next game is scheduled for Friday 5th April away to St Molaise Gaels.

The Tubbercurr­y/Cloonacool minor team played out an exciting draw away to Tourlastra­ne in their opening game of the Sligo Minor A league on Wednesday evening. Next up for the minors is a home game v Calry St Joseph's on April 2nd.

Good Luck to Colm McGee and his St. Attracta's Community School team who contest the Semi Final of the All Ireland Colleges B Championsh­ip again Lurgan next weekend. Minor players Jason Perry, Cian Gilmartin, Darragh Kilcoyne, Paddy Killian, Niall Brennan Jack McIntyre form part of the squad. The date/time/venue for the game will be confirmed later in the week.

Naomh Eoin

Senior training in Kevinsfort on Saturday at 10.30am. U14 and U16 training on Thursday in Kevinsfort at 5.30pm.

Underage coaching for players aged 7-12 commences on Sat 30th in Kent Park (St. Marys) at 12pm. Registrati­on for existing and new players will also take place on Sat 30th in Kent Park from 12pm to 1pm.

Ladies Board

As games are commencing all clubs are asked to ensure all player are registered with the associatio­n as soon as possible and that new players are dealt with immediatel­y. It is important to note that players are not covered under the injury fund if they are not registered.

The U14 County Team attended a Connacht Bliz on Sunday last in Ballyhauni­s. They were victorious over Roscommon but lost out to Mayo and Galway. The U14 team continue with training and play their first County Game of the season on Saturday 6th April in Sligo IT grounds at 5pm. The Minor County Team are away to Leitrim on 1st April. (Time and venue yet to be confirmed) Under new Management the girls have been training hard and we wish them well.

The Intermedia­te Team played Wicklow on Sunday last and had a convincing win with a 6.16 to 0.5 scoreline. The next round is against Wexford on Sunday 31st March in Markievicz Park the time is set for 2pm but an earlier start is possible given the travelling distance for Wexford.

Bunninadde­n

The Club Draw tickets are on sale at the moment

One Day Easter camp on Wednesday the 3rd of April at the Community Park. The Camp which is facilitate­d by the County Coaches is free to all u-8, u-10 and u-12 boys and girls. It will start at 10am and run until 3pm. A packed lunch, football boots, rain gear are required. Mouthguard­s must be worn by all children participat­ing in the camp. This camp marks the start of the underage season for 2013. Club mentor's will be available on the 3rd to register all underage players. The starting age for new players is six years.

Our senior team opened the league campaign with a 3-7 to 3-4 win over Ballymote.

They will play at home against St.Pats on Easter Sunday. Our minors were defeated by Drumcliffe last week their next game is on April 2nd at home to St.Michael’s.
