Festival all about ‘ Havin’ a Laugh’

-

MENTAL health and the positives of living a healthy lifestyle will be the main focus of this weekend’s Havin' a Laugh Adventure Fest in Sligo.

The third annual event, which will take place from Friday to Sunday, will see a number of different themes explored throughout the region including art, holistic, healing and adventure.

Blaithin Sweeney of the Rennafix Group said they are looking to provide for even more people this year than ever before.

She said: “This year the festival has been more streamlined to cater for families, softer adventurers and individuals looking to address issues within their own lives with support services on site through the weekend.

“Our first year was mostly for our own friends but we have decided to expand on this due to our recent success.”

The festival will kick off with a live comedy night in Tricky McGarrigles, followed by a weekend of outdoor adventure and pleasure activities.

Beach yoga, mountain biking, hiking and stand up paddling are just some of the options participants will have.

The lakeside Holistic Family Fun Day will also provide introductory sessions to kayaking among others, with more variety kids games to be announced.

Evening entertainment will include an outdoor cinema, BBQ and an outdoor acoustic set.

Blaithin said: “All of the activities are provided by experienced adventure providers.

“This event promises to be lots of fun set against the backdrop of Sligo's stunning adventurous landscape.”

Rennafix, who are hosting the festival, assist with the promotion of positive mental health through outdoor activities, connecting people, and ‘ having a laugh'.
