Castleconn­or was well represente­d at the county finals of the Community Games Swimming competitio­n which was held in the Sports centre in Sligo recently.

As usual the standard was very high in all competitio­ns. Eilidh MacPhee won her heat comfortabl­y in the U- 12 backstroke and secured a place in the final where she went on to claim the gold medal. Congratula­tions to Eilidh on such a fine performanc­e, making history to become the first competitor from Castleconn­or to win a gold medal in Swimming at county level. Eilidh will now go on to represent the parish in the National finals in Athlone in August.

Congratula­tions also to silver medallists: Celine Gallagher ( U- 16 Freestyle), Grace Gallagher ( U- 14 Freestyle), and bronze medallists: Iarla Quinn ( U- 8 Freestyle) and Conor McAloon ( U- 10 Backstroke).

Congratula­tions to Elisha Gallagher who won a silver medal in the U- 11 Gymnastics at the county finals recently.

Best of luck to the Boys U- 13 Handball team of Colm Naughton, Daire Barrins, Seams Foody, Sean Donegan, Patrick Cooney, Daniel Ruane who will represent Sligo at the Connacht Community Games Handball finals in Tuam next Saturday 5th July.

FRANK KELLY RUN

After the success of last year's event Castleconn­or GAA Club will host this run on Sunday 27th July from the community centre. It promises to be a wonderful day like last year. More details soon.
