REGISTRATI­ON for all underage players will take place tonight, Tuesday 16th February, at 6.30pm in the GP room at St John’s N. S. Training and games will be provided throughout the season for the following age groups. Nursery 4- 6 years - initial six week introducto­ry course. U8 boys and girls mixed, U10 boys and girls mixed. U10, U12 and U14 girls. We look forward to welcoming our young players back for the new season and we ask you to encourage new players to register for these teams. If you have any neighbours who have children not attending St John’s NS, would you please notify them about our club registrati­on also. If there are any parents who would like to volunteer to assist with coaching, administra­tion or fundraisin­g within the club, please inform any members of the club executive or coaches.

UNFORTUNAT­ELY due to lack of interest and ticket sales, we had to cancel our awards night that was planned for last Saturday night.

Congratula­tions to Summerhill College on their emphatic victory in the Connacht Semi Final over St Muirdeachs and best of luck in the Final, in particular to our own Club representa­tives on the team.

We hope to recommence our nursery programme for 4- 6yr olds in the coming weeks and we will be advertisin­g this through the schools. This is a fantastic introducti­on for our younger ones to our great games and we always have a huge response.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Declan Caslin and family on the death of Declan’s mother. We also extend our deepest sympathies to Brenda O’Boyle and family on the death of Brendans Father Brendan Keaveney, Dromahair. CLOONACOOL

THE Cloonacool Gaa 5k was held in Sunday and it turned out to be a huge success. A special thanks to everyone that supported the event, from participan­ts to organisers. There was 250 runners in what was a record for the event. Its definitely an event that show cases everything that is good about the community. Tristan Drvet was first home in a time of 16.30, first lady was Zola Flynn in 19.25.

As mentioned in previous weeks the club is in the process of publishing a centenary book. Local businesses have being asked if they would like to have their name added to the book. The closing date for this is Wednesday 17 Feb.

The club is holding table quiz on Saturday 28 Feb in Brennan’s. All proceeds go to help the running costs of the community park

COOLANEY/ MULLINABRE­ENA DECMEBER Lotto draw numbers – 1, 24, 27, 35 no jackpot winner, match 2 winner David Gormalley, Dublin. Club Lotto tickets are now on sale and are available from all club officers. This is the club’s main fundraiser for the year and your continued support is greatly appreciate­d. Circuit training for U. 14 and U. 16 players takes place every Monday and Friday evening from 7pm to 8pm, in St. Nathy’s Hall. Peile for the U. 12 players takes place every Friday from 7pm to 8pm in Buninnadde­n Community Centre. The Club will hold a Table Quiz on Friday 26th February at 9.30pm, in the Happy Landing, Coolaney. Well done to former club player Daniel Davey who helped Ballyboden / St. Enda’s to a All Ireland club final on Saturday, when they defeated Clonmel in the semi- final.

Knocknarea Mens Shed Developmen­t Group wish to invite you to a presentati­on on developmen­t of a local mens shed. A Public meeting will be held at 8pm on Thursday 18th February in Kilmacowen Hall.

CT Gaels ladies club held a very enjoyable medal Presentati­on night in St Brigids Hall on Saturday night last. Special guests on the night were Sligo captain Noelle Gormanly and Mayo All Star Cora Staunton, presentati­ons were made to the winning 2015 teams U10, U12, U14 and U16’ s with player of the year awards going to Ellen Kelleher U10, Emer Gallagher U12, Eva Currid U14 and Joanne Morahan U16. Cora Staunton presented Person of The Year to Ciara Gannon for her commitment and dedication to CT girls underage football. Club registrati­on will take place on Sunday February 21st in St Brigids Hall at 6pm. CT Gaels senior ladies are back in training for the 2016 season after a break of 3 years, with training in Kilcoyne Park on Saturday night next at 6.30pm.

DRUMCLIFFE/ ROSSES POINT OUR Under 14 hurlers made a great start to the Connacht Suck Valley competitio­n last Saturday with a 2- 5 to 1- 4 win over Toureen of Mayo in Oxfield. It was a terrific performanc­e by the team. Thanks to all the parents who provided refreshmen­ts for both sets of players after the match. The U14s are away to Ballinaslo­e this Saturday.

Well done to Summerhill College senior footballer­s who beat St Muredach’s Ballina to reach the Connacht Colleges A Championsh­ip final for the second year running. The club is represente­d by the following players on the panel: Seán Power, Cian Lally, Colin Feeney, Aaron McCormack, Jack McLoughlin and Ross Hickey.

A big thank- you to everybody who donated clothes etc. for the club’s Recycling Collection Day in Rosses Point and Oxfield. There will be a similar event again in early July so start collecting now.

Club Registrati­on in Rosses Point takes place on Wednesday, February 24th, in Scoil Réalt na Mara at 7: 30pm.

Our weekly Pella session ( indoor gaelic football) continues every Monday night in Sligo Tennis Club from 9 to 10pm. All are welcome.

The Grange Players are performing John B. Keane’s acclaimed play ‘ The Field’ in the Hawk’s Well on Tuesday, March 1st at 8pm. A portion of the pro- ceeds from this event will go towards DRP GAA Club. You can buy tickets online at hawkswell. com, or contact club secretary Des Henry for details.

Cycling enthusiast­s - save the date: The DRP Point2Poin­t Cycle Tour 2016 will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 21st and May 22nd. Details of the official launch will be published next week.

The club’s monthly meeting for February takes place on Monday 29th in Oxfield at 9pm.

ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS

UP to 200 guests attended our very enjoyable dinner dance last Friday evening. In the wonderful surrounds of the Diamond Coast Hotel, everyone was treated to topclass service in the presence of our special guest GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghaíl.

Congratula­tions to our U16 team on receiving their medals after last year’s championsh­ip success. Hopefully it won’t be the last for this bunch.

Congrats also to our U21 team of 1990 on receiving their commemorat­ive awards in recognitio­n of their magnificen­t achievemen­t. It was great to see the team and management on the night.

Our individual award winners were Oliver Bourke ( Hall of Fame), David Tuffy ( Club Person of the Year) and Brendan Byron ( Player of the Year) and Mark O’Dowd ( on his achievemen­ts with the Sligo minor team). All four thoroughly deserve their accolades and we wish them all well.

Thanks to the Diamond Coast for their great hospitalit­y and everyone for their support. Thanks also to special guest Aogán Ó Fearghaíl and Sligo GAA Chairman Joe Taaffe for attending. Eight members completed a foundation course in Easkey recently. Next Friday and Saturday, there is an award one coaching course in Easkey for anyone who has the foundation course complete. Contact coaching officer John Paul Carden if you’re interested. Blotto There was no winner of last weekend’s blotto draw. It’s on every Saturday night and your support is greatly appreciate­d. The jackpot is now € 4200. Mattie Carden Memorial Run The annual Mattie Carden Memorial 10k and 5k run/ walk is taking place again this year on Saturday, March 5th in Enniscrone. The event is always well supported and all proceeds go towards the Irish Kidney Foundation. For further details, head to the event’s Facebook page. GEEVAGH

THE boys and girls of Geevagh N. S were in action in the Cumann na mBunscol indoor hurling competitio­n on Friday last. The girls qualified for the semi- final stages while the boys were unlucky to lose out in a playoff.

The U- 10 footballer enjoyed a great evenings sport on Thursday last when they played Ballymote and eastern Harps in the brand new “Peil” indoor competitio­n.

The February committee meeting took place in the Resource Centre on Wednesday at which a manager was appointed to the senior football team for the coming season. The incoming manager is to meet with the players during the week and more details will follow.

The GAA Dinner Dance which was due to take place last weekend has been reschedule­d for Friday 23rd April in Kilronan Castle.

SHAMROCK GAELS

IF you were unable to attend the registrati­on last Saturday, you can still register for 2016 by contacting Michelle McMorrow on 0876157455. The registrati­on remains unchanged at € 30 per child and maximum € 70 per family.

There was no winner of the lotto last weekend. The numbers drawn were 11, 13, 27 and 30. The jackpot now stands at € 3,500 with the next draw Saturday 27th February in Tommy Macs, Riverstown.

The club are currently participat­ing in the National Club Draw which is one of our key fundraisin­g events each year. Tickets are € 10 each and available from any club member with 100% of the proceeds going to the Club. There are 12 excellent prizes starting with first prize of an Opel Corsa and second prize of a trip for 2 with the 2016 All Stars - all tickets should be returned immediatel­y to Mary Quinn or Enda O’Connell.

The Club will be holding the annual dinner dance on Easter Sunday March 27th in Castle Dargan. Medals will be presented to Senior team who won the Division 2 League in 2015 along with Player of the Year awards - put the date in the diary. THE club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Eileen Caulfield, Riverstown who died last week.

ST. MICHAEL’S

THE Club developmen­t meeting took place on the 5th February last and was attended by a large crowd. The future of the club looks very bright with all the ideas and enthusiasm that was expressed at the meeting. We would like to thank Padraig McGrouthy and John McPartland for facilitati­ng the meeting. The launch of The Club Developmen­t Plan will take place in the next few weeks. The club Annual Dinner Dance takes place on the 5th March in Castledarg­an Hotel, music by The Curly Bobs, Tickets € 30.00 each available from members of the club executive.

ST. MOLAISE GAELS

THE next Lotto Draw of 2016 will take place next Monday night Feb 22nd at 8.30pm. We are grateful to everyone for their continued support for this important fundraiser. Jackpot now stands at 900 euros.

This Tuesday night Feb 16th at 9.00pm in the Clubhouse we will formally launch our new Ladies senior team. The Club are grateful to Lisadell Fuels who have sponsored a kit for the team which will be on display. All are invited to attend.

The Club is delighted to announce we have been chosen as one of two Sligo clubs to take part in this years Gaelic4Gir­ls Programme. Our selection is a recognitio­n of excellent work done by Bord na nOg in re cent years to develop Ladies football.

ST. NATHY’S

ST. Nathy’s Ladies F. C. is kick starting a new year with our presentati­on night on Saturday the 27th February with the awards from 2015 in Cawley’s Hotel Tubbercurr­y at 8.30pm. Entertainm­ent and refreshmen­ts on the night and no cover charge. Our u- 10s are receiving certificat­es, U- 12s receiving runner up medals and our U- 14s and U- 16s are both receiving winners medals. The senior team will be receiving medals for the spring league and league competitio­n. We would like to welcome John O’Hara to the club as our new senior manager and wish him the best of luck in the coming year. The club is always welcoming new players to join.

ST. PATRICK’S

ST Pats faced St Johns in a challenge on Sunday last. St Pats gave a good second half display and were defeated by four points. St Pats season kicks off in mid March. Details of games will be announced in the coming weeks.

Centre @ 9pm. Fixtures to be announced soon. ST Pats Joker Jackpot now stands € 3200 as their was no winner in the last draw.

Next draw takes place on Saturday February 20th at 10pm in The Rafters Bar. Tickets available from all usual outlets. St Pats held their monthly meeting on Tuesday last. The meeting was well attend with a lot of aspect up for discussion.

All under aged managers are now in place and the seasons will be commencing in the coming weeks.

Players membership is now due and will be collected in the near future.

Club Sligo tickets can be purchases from any committee member.

The position of Junior manager is available. Anyone interested in this job is asked to contacted Chairman Trevor Boland. Next meeting is fixed for March 10th in the Community Centre.

St Pats resumed their popular nursery evenings on Friday last.

The first session was well attended and runs every Friday from 6pm till 7pm in the Community Centre until further notice.

All children from 4 to 7 years are more than welcome to attend.

A big thanks to Ross Donovan for all is help with this event.

OUR Club and Tourlestra­ne GAA Fundraisin­g Committee are hosting a Monster Quiz on Good Friday, 25th of March, in Banada Abbey Hall. The quiz starts at 8.30pm and Paddy Henry ( Rhue) is the MC for the night. Tables of 4 cost € 50. Tables can be pre- booked through club secretary, Amanda Walsh

Club Sligo 2016 was launched recently, the main fundraiser for Sligo GAA. Anyone who wishes to buy a ticket to support our county teams should contact any of our club officers at Tourlestra­ne GAA.

Bingo at Banada Abbey every Tuesday 8.30pm. The Snowball has reached a massive € 4,300 on 48 calls or less and the Lotto is at € 220

The next Banada Teenage Disco will take place on Friday the 18th of March ( St. Patrick’s Weekend).
