MANOR SUMMIT
The Manor Summit takes place on this Thursday night, February 18 in the Bee Park Community Centre from 7pm to 9.30pm.
It has come about following six months’ work between Leitrim County Council, Manorhamilton Business Association, the Tidy Towns and other Community Groups in the broader Manorhamilton Area.
In 2015 as part of the revitalisation for rural areas a pilot programme called The REDZ ( Rural Economic Development Zone) was announced. Rural Ireland was divided into a number of REDZ areas – areas where a town was seen as the key economic driver for a broader area.
Locally, some funding was secured through Leitrim County Council for the Manorhamilton REDZ area in October 2015. The Manorhamilton REDZ covers a wide rural area and includes Manorhamilton, Glenfarne, Kiltyclogher, Drumkeerin, Rossinver and Dowra/ Blacklion.
The key element of this six month programme was the development of an Enterprise and Job Creation Action Plan for the Manorhamilton REDZ Area. This Action plan was prepared with strong local involvement through workshops and case studies.
This action plan will be presented on Thursday night at the Manor Summit and the organisers will then hold short workshops focussing on its main action areas as follows – Culture and Creativity; Community and Leisure; Tourism and Heritage; Town Planning and Development.
Everyone is invited to give his or her input at the Manor Summit and to hear what others have to say. The Manor Summit organisers are confident that everyone will find it worthwhile.
It’s an important event for Manorhamilton and the wider area. Please register your attendance at the Manor Summit on www. leitrimbusiness. ie/ Events/.
