Moy River Cottage to host unique exhibition this weekend only

-

Moy River Cottage in Cloonacool ( beside Moy River B& B) will host a unique exhibition, The Heather Breeze, on the weekend of 4th to 6th of March next.

It will feature music, spoken word, art and photography.

The work is a collaboration between friends and summertime neighbours, Raymond and Kim Henry and Rita Normanly and Pat McCarrick. Raymond and Kim live near Boston in the United States while Rita and Pat run the local B& B in Cloonacool.

Ten years ago, Kim Henry started taking classes in pastels through a community education program.

She has belonged to two cooperative art galleries in the Boston area, and shown her pastels and mixed media pieces at other venues, including a yearly regional art competition, library, music school and botanic garden.

In 2014, Kim was awarded a month as an artist- in- residence at a national park in Connecticut.

Inspired by the traditional music of Sligo, Raymond Henry became interested in the tin whistle and flute at a young age.

In Boston, he makes the circuit of weekly sessions in the area, and belongs to a traditional band called “West of Ireland.”

In 2011, he collaborated with his wife Kim, providing the soundtrack to her art exhibit entitled, “Jigs and Reels: Irish Tunes as Paintings.”

Rita Normanly is a Creative Writer and also a creative writing facilitator.

Rita has had some of her work broadcast on national radio on such forums as Sunday Miscellany and A Living Word.

Her writing style is both reflective and evocative.

Pat McCarrick has had an interest in photography since his teenage years.

Pat has progressed from the print to the digital age with a style that combines people, nature and the wider landscape with a leaning at all times towards colour and atmosphere.

The Exhibition opens to an invited audience on Friday evening 4th March and continues, open to the public, through Saturday 5th ( 11am to 5pm) and Sunday 6th ( 2pm to 5pm) with closure of the exhibition at 5pm.

The exhibition is free to attend, and there will be art on sale for anyone wishing to make a purchase.
