AURIVO Co- op was among 90,000 attendees from 120 countries at Gulfood— the world’s top food and hospitality show in Dubai this week.
In 2016, Aurivo expects to increase exports to the Middle East considerably and as part of the co- op’s focus on the MENA region, Aurivo was in attendance at Gulfood.
With more than 1,000 dairy farmers from 13 counties supplying milk to Aurivo, in excess of 75 percent of Aurivo’s current milk pool is exported, predominantly in the form of enriched milk powder, to almost 50 countries globally.
Aurivo currently produces product for markets as diverse as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria and the Middle East amongst many others.
Speaking from Dubai, Aurivo dairy ingredients and consumer foods general manager, Eoghan Sweeney said: “Aurivo has strong growth targets for exports to the Middle East this year and Gulfood provides an opportunity to promote the exceptional quality of Irish dairy, strengthen existing global customer relationships and explore new opportunities.
“New powder packing technology is currently being installed at Aurivo’s Dairy Ingredients site to allow the co- operative expand into new markets, respond to changing customer requirements and develop value added products and new pack sizes to maximise returns for members’ milk.”
While Aurivo hosted meetings with many international dairy ingredients customers from Africa, Iraq, Pakistan and Saudia Arabia at the trade show, Gulfood also provided an opportunity to showcase the Co- op’s growing sports nutrition brand, For Goodness Shakes, to a global audience. For Goodness Shakes is the UK’s leading ready- to- drink sports recovery brand and was acquired by Aurivo last year. The brand has an exciting pipeline of NPD being launched in 2016, and had significant interest from potential customers in Scandinavia, UAE and South Africa at the trade show.
Strengthening of Aurivo’s global customer relationships is supported annually with a calendar of in- market reviews with customers in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, attendance at leading food shows and participation on trade missions when the opportunities arise. In December, Aurivo accompanied the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney to Nigeria, and earlier this month was invited to participate on a ‘ Taste of Europe’ trade mission to Mexico and Colombia by the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan.
