3 MISS JULIE SCREENING AT THE MODEL CINEMA Presented by the Sligo Film Society with the support of the French Embassy and the Institut Français on Thursday from 8pm at The Model Cinema, ‘ Miss Julie.’ A glorious period piece directed by Liv Ullmann, and starring Colin Farrell, Jessica Chastain and Samantha Morton.

4 EXHIBITION OPENING AT THE HAMILTON GALLERY ‘ Three Solo Exhibition­s’ opens at the Hamilton Gallery on Castle Street this Thursday from 6pm with works from Michael Wann, Cora O’Brien and Petra Berntsson. Exhibition runs until 2nd April.

5 OPERA SCREENING LIVE AT SLIGO OMNIPLEX Puccini’s opera on obsessive love, ‘ Manon Lescaut’ will screen live from New York’s Met Opera to Sligo Omniplex on Saturday at 6pm. Directed by Richard Eyre and starring soprano, Kristine Opolais with tenor, Jonas Kaufmann. Tickets € 24 with student concession­s of € 12 .

6 LAUNCH OF SLIGO CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL The launch of the 4th Sligo Children’s Book Festival on Thursday at 5pm at the Hawk’s Well Theatre - a free event with face- painting, story- telling, craft workshops and a chance to pick up this year’s jam packed brochure.

7 ‘ THIS SIDE UP’ AT 5TH ON TEELING Local hip- hop artists ‘ This Side Up’ are set to takeover 5th on Teeling this Saturday night with Moreone and Verb T - who is one of the UK’s most prolific hip hop artists - who will showcase his new label, In The Balance Records and his collaborat­ion with This Side Up. Free admission with late bar with an Open Mic competitio­n on the night.
