Cumann na mBuncol

Table Quiz The annual Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Table Quiz, sponsored by CJ Fallon, will take place in the Teeling Centre, Collooney on Tuesday 1st March at 7: 00pm. Schools may enter up to two teams with four pupils on each team and the cost per team is € 10. The quiz should be over at 8pm approximat­ely. Indoor Hurling Competitio­n The final of the Indoor Hurling competitio­n has been scheduled for Sunday 6th March in the Teeling Centre at 11am.

Maugherow NS will face Geevagh NS in the Girls Final and Gaelscoil Cnoc na Ré are through to the Boys Final. The other semi final is being played Monday 29th February.

COOLANEY/ MULLINABRE­ENA

The Monthly meeting will take place on Monday 7th March at 9pm, in the Community Centre, Coolaney. All lotto ticket sellers are asked to return all sold lotto tickets at or before this meeting. This is the club’s main fundraiser for the year and your continued support is greatly appreciate­d. Peile for the U. 12 players takes place every Friday from 7pm to 8pm in Buninnadde­n Community Centre. Player Registrati­on will be held on Saturday 12th March in Coolaney Community Centre from 9.45am to 11am and in St. Nathy’s Hall from 10.45am to 12 noon. A 5 euro nominal fee applies ( max 20 euro per family ). All youths ( U. 18 ) Must be accompanie­d by a guardian. This is to ensure that everyone is properly insured and that players, coaches and the club are protected in all eventualit­ies. Training for U. 8 players continues every Saturday morning in St. Nathy’s Hall from 10am to 10.45am, and Coolaney Community Centre from 11.15am to 12pm. The senior teams first game in the Kiernan Cup for 2016 is on Saturday 12th Match at 5pm, away against Curry.

ST FARNAN’S

A big thank you to the organising committee and in particular to Mary Gordon who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event. Finally thanks to all at Pallas Marketing and the staff of The Ocean Sands Hotel for their help and cooperatio­n in organising the event. The cash winners on the night were Siobhan Foy(€ 800), John Joe Naughton(€ 150), Michelle Taylor€ 100), Shane Devaney(€ 800), John Hanley((€ 300), Martina Colleary(€ 100), Tony Gordon(€ 100) and Thomas Cawley(€ 100). Congratula­tions to Cormac Hallinan who was part of Sligo IT hurling team which captured the Fergal Maher Cup at the weekend. On the playing field a number of our players have been playing with West Sligo under 16 team for the past few weeks. A number of players are also in training with Sligo football and hurling developmen­t squads. The club extends sympathy to the families, relatives and friends of the late Grainne Golden, Sligo and Packie Tighe, Enniscrone. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh siad.

ST MICHAEL’S

The Junior team had the first outing of 2016 with a challenge game against Owenmore Geals in Collooney on Satur- day evening, the team was as follows: K Crawley, G Walsh, R Taaffe, E McLoughlin, P Kelly( 0- 1), C McTiernan( 1- 1), R Healy, P McTiernan( 0- 2), S Clerkin, G Kelly( 0- 1), S Clancy( 0- 2), D O’Brien( 0- 2), J Haran, B Taaffe, R Walsh( 0- 3). Subs used O Gilmartin( 0- 1), H Clancy. Final score was 1- 13 to 1- 8 to St Michaels. Training continues as usual. U- 13 Feile Team medal presentati­on on Wednesday 2nd March at 8pm in Community Centre, Ballintogh­er.

The club Annual Dinner Dance takes place on the 5th March in Castle Dargan Hotel, music by The Curly Bobs, Tickets € 30.00 each available from Padraig Clancy and Robbie Taaffe. Our Senior Hurlers travelled to Carrick On Shannon on Saturday last when they took on the Leitrim side, St. Mary’s, in round 3 of the Tain League. After a hard fought encounter, both teams shared the spoils with the game ending in a draw16 to 0- 9. The panel was Patrick Quinn, Shane Neary, Gavin Feeily, Colm McVeigh, J. P. Lang, Tom Brennan, Stephen Roddy ( Captain), Padraig McVeigh, Barry Walsh, Peadar Leonard, Enda Gallagher, Patrick Burke( 0- 01), Ruari Brennan( 0- 02), Sean Quinn( 0- 01), Niall Durkin( 1- 00), Jerome Quinn, Diarmuid Brennan and Jimmy Walsh. Best of luck to St. Attracta’s CS Senior Boys team who take on Summerhill in the Connacht A Schools Final on Saturday at 3pm in Markievicz Park. The club is represente­d through Adam Broe, Darren Leonard, Liam Gaughan, Richie Lang, Conan Marren, Seán McVeigh, Conor Walsh and Daniel Clarke, Senior Footballer, Stephen Henry is also a selector with the team. We also have a representa­tive on the Summerhill team with Darren O’Hara lining out in the half back line. Well done to Leonie Gaughan and Sarah Cunney who represente­d the club on Saturday last when they played for Sligo U- 14 girls and were victorious over Longford. Our Senior Men will have their first outing of the season ahead on the weekend of the 19th of March when they play Shamrock Gaels in Tourlestra­ne. Hard luck to both Sligo Ladies and Sligo Men who suffered defeat at the hands of Westmeath and Offaly respective­ly. Our club was represente­d by Katie Walsh, Anna Corcoran, Adrian McIntyre, Noel Gaughan, Brian Egan and Stephen Henry.

DRUMCLIFFE/ ROSSES POINT

There will be another history- making day for colleges gaelic football in Sligo when Summerhill College and St Attracta’s Tubbercurr­y contest the Connacht Colleges Senior A Championsh­ip final this Saturday in Markievicz Park at 3pm. The sides met recently in the league decider. Saturday’s game will be the first ever ‘ All- Sligo’ Senior A provincial championsh­ip final. We wish our club players on the Summerhill panel Seán Power, Cian Lally, Colin Feeney, Aaron McCormack, Jack McLoughlin and Ross Hickey every success. The match will be live on Ocean FM.

The Registrati­on Night for the inaugural Cycle Point2Poin­t will be held on Monday, March 14th, in Davis’s Restaurant Yeats Tavern Drumcliffe. This two- day cycle fundraiser from Rosses Point in Co Sligo to St John’s Point in Co Donegal promises to be a fabulous community event. The Registrati­on Night will provide full event details for those interested in taking part. The registrati­on fee for the event is € 20. All are welcome. This event is open to all cycling enthusiast­s. The Grange Players production of John B Keane’s classic play ‘ The Field’ is on in the Hawk’s Well theatre this Tuesday night, March 1st, at 8pm. Tickets cost € 15 euro. Five euros from every ticket sold goes towards DRP GAA Club. You can book tickets online or contact Club Secretary Des Henry on 0876473556. The club’s GAA Nursery began for 2016 last weekend in Oxfield. Training for U6s starts every Saturday ( indoors for the first few weeks) at 9: 45am sharp. U8s and U10s at 10: 30am. ST MOLAISE GAELS

The next Lotto Draw of 2016 will take place next Monday night March 7th at 8.30pm. We are grateful to everyone for their continued support for this important fundraiser. Jackpot now stands at 1,000 euros Underage coaching for Boys and Girls is scheduled to start on Saturday March 12th. Girls from U6 to U14 will run from 10.00am to 11.00am and Boys U6 to U10 will be from 11.15am to 12.15pm. For those who have not registered to date there will be an opportunit­y to do so for a number of Saturday mornings. The Club Coffee shop will also reopen on March 12th while coaching is taking place. There will be a Club meeting next Monday night March 7th at 9.00pm.

CALRY/ ST JOSEPH’S

This weeks lotto numbers are 11, 18, 19, 25. There was no winner, nor match 3 winner with Tim Hynes picking up the promoters prize. There will be another registrati­on night in the Clubhouse on tonight ( Tuesday) night from 7pm to 8.30pm. We extend our deepest sympathies to Brendan Kelly on the death of his Father.

GEEVAGH

Congratula­tions to the Geevagh NS camogie team that reached the final of the Cumann na Bunscol indoor competitio­n when they face Maugherow NS in the Teeling Centre at 11am on Sunday next. Congratula­tions to ladies senior Captain, Sarah Frazer and Roger Maxwell who recently became engaged.
