YEATS COMMEMORAT­ION

Congratula­tions to the Cos Cos Festival Committee, the Drumcliffe- Rathcormac Tidy Towns committee, and the Drumcliffe Church of Ireland parish on a hugely entertaini­ng and thoroughly enjoyable evening last Saturday to commemorat­e the 78th anniversar­y of the death in France in 1939 of the poet WB Yeats.

NEW FACILTIES

Constructi­on of Phase one of the new Changing Rooms and Toilets project at the Oxfield Community Centre is under way. This phase will consist of one new changing room with showers, a new ladies toilets, a new wheelchair accessible toilet and baby changing facility.

Following a competitiv­e tendering process Sligo contractor Donlan Civil Engineerin­g and Building Services were awarded the contract and are currently working away in order to have the new facility ready for use in the coming weeks.

The Management Committee at Oxfield would like to apologise to users for any inconvenie­nce which may arise during the constructi­on period.

GET FIT IN 2017

Get fit, lean and strong in 2017 with Metafit classes at Oxfield. A new term has just commenced on Tuesdays at 6.45 p. m. Classes last for 30 minutes and cost € 5 per class. They are suitable for men, women and teenagers. Beginners of all fitness levels are very welcome. IRISH DANCING

Irish dance classes by Orna McAnrew for girls and boys aged 4+ are help in Oxfield on Tuesdays 5: 30to 6.30 p. m.) and in Rathcormac on Thursdays ( 5: 30 to 6.30 p. m. for beginners and 6 p. m. to 7 p. m. for improvers). Classes are fun filled and aimed at encouragin­g Irish dancing in a friendly, well supported, and child orientated way. Call Orna at 087 6797924.

PILOXING

A new term of Piloxing has also commenced at the Oxfield Centre. Sessions run on Mondays at 8 p. m.

JUVENILE CELEBRATIO­N

The Drumcliffe- Rosses Point GAA Club’s annual celebratio­n of its underage hurlers and footballer­s will take place this Friday, February 3, in Rathcormac Hall, starting at 7.30 p. m. This special event will recognise all the club’s underage players from under- 12 to minor, who have contribute­d so much to the club over the last 12 months. Parents, families and friends are all very welcome to be part of the evening.

BOSTON FOR YEATS

Yeats United Football Club is hosting a Boston Tea Party on Saturday, March 25, in the Radisson Blu Hotel to raise funds for pitch developmen­t. Anyone interested in hosting a table can contact club secretary Jean Gaule at 086 6419669.

TRACTOR DATE

The annual charity tractor run ( organised by local lad Luke Kerrigan) in aid of the Irish Kidney Associatio­n will take place this year on Monday, April 2. If your Massey needs a polish, plan to get it sorted before April.
