THE PHOENIX PLAYERS

The Phoenix Players are delighted to announce upcoming dates for their three- act play ‘ The Third Policeman’, which they will be brining to theatre audiences on this year’s Festival Circuit in various locations nationally throughout March.

‘ The Third Policeman’ is based on the book of the same name by legendary writer Flan O’Brien: it tells the story of one man’s seemingly endless search for the black box, and the strange and wonderful places and characters he encounters on his journey. This play includes moments of hilarious comedy, but equally touches on darker moments with a sense of hopelessness present.

The cast includes Alan Seery in his debut for the Phoenix Players as well as seasoned actors Padraic Neary, Eamonn Gallagher, Gerry Maye, Mary T Mannion and Gráinne Brennan. Also taking to the stage are Shona O’Dowd, Shane Keyes, Francis Brennan, Mark Dunne and Claire McLoughlin. Director is the ever competent Peter Davey and he has recruited an all- star backstage crew in the form of Caoimhe Gallagher, Derek Foye, John James Maye, Peter Molloy, Caitriona Coleman, Caroline McGowan and Martin Lynch.

On February 16 and 17 the group will be presenting the show in St Brigid’s Hall Tubbercurry and these will be the only home shows, as this year the Western Drama Festival are hosting the all- Ireland Finals, and will not be hosting their own festival in March. Although the Phoenix Players are extremely hopeful of qualifying for the all- Ireland’s in Tubbercurry in April, they would urge locals wishing to see this year’s show to come along on February 16 and 17 to avoid disappointment. The group is also presenting ‘ The Third Policeman’ in Kiltimagh on Wednesday the 22nd Feb, and in the Factory, Sligo on March 1 and 2.
