Policywas cancelled

A driver summoned for driving without insurance on three occasions was jailed for five months and banned from driving for seven months.

Ivan Gethins ( 26) of Elm Gardens, Ballytivnan was later released from custody pending an appeal to the Circuit Court.

He also fined a total of € 600 for the offences which occurred on June 3rd, 10th and 14th last.

A representative from AXA told the court that Gethins had applied to AXA Direct for insurance but it was declined due to four penalty points, a drink driving conviction and one claim.

He then went and obtained insurance through a broker on September 25th 2015 but hadn’t declared any of his convictions.

A letter of cancellation was sent on October 14th 2015 and on October 19th a cheque for a full refund was issued and which was cashed on De-
