Bestkept towns invite for Coolaney
COOLANEY has been invited to take part in Ireland’s Best Kept Towns Competition 2017.
The invite has arisen from Coolaney’s outstanding performance in last year’s Tidy Towns Competition and the town has now qualified to participate in the ‘ Small Town Award’ category.
Ireland’s Best Kept Towns Competition is an all- island initiative organised jointly by the department and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council and participation is based on a town’s performance in the Tidy Towns or the Northern Ireland Amenity Council’s ‘ Best Kept Awards’ in the previous year.
Adjudication takes place during the month of May and the results are announced at an awards ceremony in Dublin in June.
Councillor Dara Mulvey said the news is huge for Coolaney.
“This is great news for a place like Coolaney. A lot of work goes into the Tidy Towns and Coolaney have been very successful in that competition over the years.
“It’s great for the village. I look forward to hearing how they do in the competiton later in the year,” he added.
