Commercial rates rise would be ‘ disastrous’

-

EVERY bit of money is welcome to the area, says Micheál Rogers, Director of Rogers Topline Ballymote.

“The Government should reduce the cost of building houses, if they brought down the VAT it would help,” said Michael. “People are afraid to invest in houses at the moment and the banks aren’t giving out as much money as the past,” he said.

Michael believes the Government should offer tax breaks to home- grown businesses instead of foreign businesses.

He’s also against harmonisation of commercial rates: “Commercial rates for country businesses are supposed to be coming up instead of coming down - that would be a disastrous move, outrageous” he said. “We’re paying enough already.”
