-

THE Ursuline College U14 Gaelic team qualified for the Connacht final on Tuesday last after overcoming Glenamaddy Community School, Galway in an enthralling semi- final played in Michael Glavey’s GAA grounds in Roscommon.

This was a thrilling encounter with excellent displays of football from two highly skilful sides.

A tentative first half finished with the Ursuline girls ahead by the narrowest of margins, four points to three, which left it all to play for in the second half.

Ursuline were down by one point with only 7minutes to go, however the Sligo girls regrouped and increased the intensity to bring the game back on level terms

Excellent defending followed with some fantastic team work which saw Helen Monaghan drive the ball to the back of the Glenamaddy net to take the lead.

From then on the girls never looked back, scoring three points in a row to win on a score line of 2- 9 to 1- 6.

This was an excellent display of football from everyone involved, the girls worked hard for each and displayed great heart and determination to book their deserved place in the Connacht final against Carrick Community School in the coming weeks.

The fixture and venue has yet to be announced.
