Gastro pub gets award for food

-

The Draft House in Strandhill has been awarded Just Ask Restaurant of the Month for February.

Since opening in May 2015, Daniel McGarrigle’s gastropub has proved a popular addition to the surfing hotspot of Strandhill, fitting in perfectly with its casual ingredients- led food, its focus on craft drinks and its laid- back atmosphere.

The Draft House is also a proud member of the Sligo Food Trail and exemplifies its ‘ we dont do ordinary’ house motto. The Just Ask Restaurant of the Month rewards eateries across Ireland that exhibit best practice in showing transparency in the sourcing of the food on their menus. Head Chef Lee Martin said: “We take particular pride in our Irish suppliers, listing them on our website and menus. Sheerin’s Meatin’ Place in Ballymote supply us with our beef, pork, sweet- cured bacon and sausages. Sherlock Meats of Tubbercurry supply us with beef and chicken and we source our duck from Thornhill Farm in Cavan. Our organic quail eggs are supplied by 12 Quail Farm in Leitrim and all of rapeseed oil comes from Donegal. John Flynn

“Fish of Clogherevagh, Sligo supplies us with the best of locally caught seafood and fish. Our coffee is supplied by Art of Coffee in Carrick- on- Shannon and our drinks list features a range of craft beers from five Irish brewerys including Sligo favourite The White Hag, along with gins from Dingle and Drumshanbo, ” he continued.
