Outdoor staff contracts

THE Council is making a submission to the Department in the next week to see if it can extend the contracts of Outdoor staff.

It’s on foot of a motion from Cllr Paul Taylor. “The contracts are up in March, this is the time to raise the matter,” he said.

Council Chief Executive Ciarán Hayes said he “always felt it was too much of an ask to ask the Council to reduce staff by 40 per cent.” “I’m looking at ways to deal with it,” he told members.

The Council has its funding in place for 2017 and is now drawing up a Roadworks Programme to reflect this.
