Easkey’s Kealon among winners
THE picturesque setting of Calry Community Park was the setting for the prestigious Irish Life Health Connacht Schools Cross Country. There was victory for a west Sligo runner in the Boys Intermediate 4500m race. Kealon Kilrehill, a student in Coláiste Iascaigh, took Gold in the race. The Ursuline College won the Minor Girls 1500m title. Summerhill’s Michael Morgan was second in the Intermediate Boys 3000m. Summerhill were second in the Intermediate 5000m and third in the Senior 6000m. The Senior Boys 6000m race went to 16- year- old Gary Martin, from Galway Community College, while the Senior Girls 2000m race saw Aine O’Farrell, 16, from Presentation College, Athenry, first to cross the line. Saoirse O’Brien, Sacred Heart School in Westport, won the Intermediate Girls 3000m final, while Bea Drumond from Athlone Community College won the Junior Girls 2000m final. Thirteen- year- ol d Tadhg Staunton from St Joseph’s in Foxford claimed the Minor Boys 2000m race. Roisín O’Brien, a student in Sacred Heart School in Westport, won the Minor Girls 2000m final, while 14- year- old Killian Jordan, of St Enda’s in Galway took the honours in the Junior Boys 3000m race.
