Macra’s FBD Capers Title goes to Banteer Macra

THE All- Ireland final of Macra’s variety entertainm­ent contest, the FBD Capers competitio­n, took place in the Mountmelli­ck Arts Centre, Laois, last weekend.

Banteer Macra, Avondhu, Cork took home the top prize on the night thereby keeping the title in Cork following Donoughmor­e Macra’s win last year. Athboy Macra na Feirme, Co. Meath came in second place while Enfield Macra, Co. Meath came in third place.

Speaking at the event, Seán Finan, Macra National President, said, “We had a fantastic night of entertainm­ent in Mountmelli­ck with a huge crowd enjoying performanc­es from the six finalists. Well done to everyone who took part and special thanks to FBD for their continued support.”

Other prizes given on the night included Best Act which went to David Murphy, Patrick Buckley and Billy Herlihy of Banteer, Best Female Performer was Vanessa Flood Kilnaleck, Cavan and Best Male Performer was Paul O Regan Kinsale. Best Producer was Heather Healy, Banteer.

Macra’s FBD Capers is a competitio­n designed for clubs wishing to gain experience in producing and performing a light entertainm­ent variety show, with performanc­es ranging from singing and dancing to comedy and drama.
