Preparatio­ns in full flow for confined drama final

Tubbercurr­y Western Drama Festival has the honour of hosting the 2017 Confined All Ireland Drama Festival Finals in April.

The Three Act Festival will not run this year in March. “We look forward to hosting the nine groups who are the ultimate finalists,” said the Western Drama Festival committee.

The event will run in St Brigid’s Hall from the 21st to 29th of April 2017.

Meanwhile, if you live in Tubbercury or in the South Sligo area you will have heard the great news that the Phoenix Players Drama Group are back in full swing in preparatio­n for the Drama Circuit.

On February 16th and 17th the group will be presenting author Flan O’Brien’s comedy, “The Third Policeman” in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y.

Separately, the Cloonacool Players have taken to the boards in rehearsals for Jimmy Keary’s comedy “Mother Knows Best”.

Under the direction of Seán Walsh and assistant director Maria Casey, we are transporte­d into the sitting room of Tess ( Margaret McIntyre) and her husband Harry ( Peadar Conway) as she weaves a web of deception in her attempt to manipulate her daughter ( Lisa Maloney) into an unsavoury relationsh­ip with Adrian Bird ( Martin McIntyre). The play goes live on the 24th, 25th and 26th of February in Cloonacool Community Centre at 8pm.
