MY REAL LIFE

On Wednesday the 22nd of February, Theatre Royal Production­s stage My Real Life at the Hawk’s Well Theatre. Written by Eoin Colfer and starring ‘ Sing Street’ star Don Wycherley, this is a touching and entertaini­ng play that will make you laugh and make you cry. The play follows Wexford man Noel who has advanced MS and decides to end it all. While waiting for his overdose to take effect he records an increasing­ly rambling message for his best friend. Noel has apologies to make and messages to send. He has love in his heart and he wants to declare it even if it’s already too late. Noel spends what is possibly the last hour of his life re- living the highs and lows of the past forty years and, surprising­ly perhaps, it’s not all doom and gloom. ALEXANDRA HOPF: THE NIGHT

Alexandra Hopf is a Berlin based artist working across video, painting and sculpture, with a research interest in individual memory, psychoanal­ysis, and the constructi­on of art history. By revisiting the oeuvre of renowned artists of the Surrealist, Constructi­vist or Minimalist avantgarde­s, and underlinin­g the prevalence of male figures in art historical narratives, Hopf investigat­es the creation of myths, and uncovers lesser- known historical facts. Artist Talk with Alexandra Hopf on Wednesday the 1st March at 2pm in the Model, Admission is free, Alexandra Hopf will invite you to look at her work as part of her residency at The Model and will lead a discussion on her exhibition The Night. ANDY IRVINE

Legendary Irish singer/ songwriter Andy Irvine has an impressive repertoire of Irish traditiona­l songs and dexterous Balkan dance tunes. He creates an exciting new fusion of Irish and World Music not to be missed.

Having travelled the world with bands such as Sweeney’s Men, Patrick Street, Planxty, and more recently Mozaik, Andy continues to pursue new combinatio­ns and styles of music.

He has broadened his musical horizons over the course of his forty- year career to encompass the musical styles of countries he visits, such as the Balkan folk style of playing. Between the achievemen­ts of his solo, group work and collaborat­ions, he is a highly revered troubadour of the Irish music world.

DARRELL SCOTT

Singer- songwriter Darrell Scott will appear at the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Sunday the 12th of March at 8.00pm with music from his latest album, Couch-ville Sessions, an emotionall­y charged collection of songs that continue Scott’s long tradition of tackling the profound issues— loneliness, the demise of relationsh­ips, mortality— while still maintainin­g a lightness and sense of hope.

Scott has lived the songs he sings: he’s worked hard, told defiant truths, and never turned down the chance to pursue love.

Along the way he has created an oeuvre of albums beloved by his devoted fans and written songs that became hits for everyone from Dixie Chicks to Travis Tritt as well as being covered by more than 70 others while never shying away from critiquing the industry.

MY AUNT BEE

Seamus O’Rourke teams up with two time All Ireland winning actress Eileen Ward for this wonderful warm hearted comedy about family, friendship and fidelity. It will take place in the Glens Cenntre Manhor Hamilton on Thursday the 2nd March at 8.30pm.

Stumbling Myles McBarn is 50 and in the middle a life crisis, he has just lost his mother and his wife and his two grown up children have moved away. His house and life have a minimalist feel to them and then he has a visit from his feisty 100 year old Aunt Bee, who has lived the past 82 years in the U. S. and returns to Ireland with a very heavy trunk.
